We had a really great time. Staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations for restaurants. Location was super convenient and close to downtown while still having a lot of local cafes and restaurants. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

I liked the location. It was close to the areas we wanted to explore. Walking to and from the hotel was easy. It was extremely hot and with no air conditioning sleeping was tough. My room was small and the bathroom sink was in a difficult position. With the shelf just above the faucet. The water from the shower would wet much of the bathroom floor so using the bath mat towel is a must. At least there was a fan in the room to help move air during the night. The stairs to get to my room on the second floor are extremely steep and the treads are narrow so carrying luggage was a challenge. The front desk staff was great and very friendly and helpful. I was not bugged by cleaning staff on checkout day which is really nice. Overall I was satisfied with the Alp Hotel and would recommend it to people on a budget.

We appreciated the location and convenience of Alp Hotel. The staff was cordial and knowledgeable. Our room was small but this was not a concern for us as we spent the days and evenings exploring Amsterdam. The room and bathroom were clean. Housekeeping was available for those that needed it. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Helpful and generous staff makes this place lovely. Be in good shape, the stairs are steep as is anywhere in Amsterdam. Room was a bit small but recently updated with an awesome jetted tub. Good to soak in after climbing 4 flights of stairs! Great location for sightseeing and shopping.

All staff are super friendly and accommodating. They even helped us carry our bags esp there’s no elevator. It is in a corner so transportation is so much easier to access and walkable to places like Jordaan area. The room we stayed in is small, but clean and cute with a balcony. Overall, I recommend this place.

Small hotel with extremely friendly staff. No elevator, but the staff helped us with our luggage. Very clean and comfortable bed even though it was fairly small. All necessary amenities. Nice little balcony. Very convenient as the 13 tram stops right outside the door. Would stay again.

Fantastic Amsterdam Experience

My girlfriend and I were only here for 1 night. Knowing that we would not be in the hotel room a lot, we wanted an authentic European experience. The rooms were quite small, but the staff and the location were excellent. The front desk recommended we take public transportation from the Schiphol airport and gave us all the information needed we needed to get there without a hitch. When we arrived, the staff provided valuable insights on where/how we could make the most of our limited time, including neighborhoods/restaurants/markets/tourist attractions. I needed to sign-in to a virtual meeting which I took in the communal back patio which was really quite nice and quiet. (Bonus points for having great Wi-Fi coverage there as well!) We will be back to Amsterdam in the near future and when we do, the Alp Hotel will definitely be on our list.

Great Stay but could be improved

The Good: Location was great, not to far of a walk to major attractions, located right by a tram stop which is very convenient. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, room was very appealing, clean, and welcoming! Things that could be improved: Bed mattresses were not very comfortable, and the noises from each floor can be heard. I'm not sure if this is a Dutch thing or not, but there aren't bed sheets, just a comforter and mattress sheet cover. It can get pretty warm in the room even with the door open, there isn't much air movement. They did provide a small desk fan however this didn't do to much. If you have issues with stairs then this might be a pass as there is no lift and the stairs are quite steep (like many in Amsterdam). Overall: I'd stay here again if it were in winter where I knew the heat wouldn't be an issue. The hotel overall was in great shape, welcoming, and the staff was exceptional. With a few tweaks this could be a 5/5!

Clean, Great Location, But Extra fees

The Alp Hotel is in a great location, right next to a bus stop that takes you right to Amsterdam Centraal. There was enough room for our family. The guy at the front desk was friendly & helpful. The only issue we had was the unexpected additional charges. Apparently there was an extra tax that hadn't been included in the original cost of the room. It was about $20. Also, when I booked the room, I thought we could fit our family of four into a room with three beds because our youngest is small enough to share a bed with my husband and I. However, the hotel wouldn't allow us to stay without paying another $60 for the extra person. Even after paying more, we didn't receive any extra bedding, so she still ended up sleeping with us. I realize this was my error for not confirming the correct number of people, but it ended up costing more than I feel was reasonable.

There are so many positives about this hotel. It is super super clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The room was fitted with a new jacuzzi bath and we got free chocolates in the room every day. There's even a sink and a fridge in the room. However, it was a bit further away from the main sites than I would have liked and was situated right by a busy tram and road junction. The trams were really noisy although they did stop running overnight. The walls of the hotel are also very thin and there is limited space in the corridor, so if guests come in chatting at normal volume, the acoustics can make it quite loud. The hotel supplies earplugs and I now know why. It is not clear from the website if breakfast is provided or available. It is NOT. They have an arrangement with a local cafe where you can order breakfast to be delivered but this was a bagel shop and not what we wanted for breakfast. I woukd recommend the Breakfast Club which is about a 5 min walk away. On the whole, there are so many plus points. It depends what you want in a hotel I guess.
