Kotohira Onsen Onyado Shikishimakan was 1 of about 8 hotels we stayed at over about
2 weeks in Japan. While all the places we stayed were good, this was the best. Their onsen is outstanding as were the meals. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to experience the Real Japan!

Gorgeous view. Was able to catch the sunrise behind the mountain and angel
Road which was beautiful. The room has all the basic necessities (towels, coffee makers, bowls, cups and utensils) and has black out curtains for comfortable sleep. The description said there is a washer but come to find out it’s a washer and dryer in one! So helpful when traveling with younger kids. You will need a rental car or book a site seeing cab. You can walk down the hill to the mega super market in about 15mins too.
