Chubu Beach Vacations

Nice hotel standing impressively overlooking the port/harbour, I think all the rooms have ocean views. Getting to the hotel is quite a journey if you are not travelling by car, but the hotel does offer a shuttle bus from Toyohashi station, it's about a 90 minute ride! We didn't find any restaurants or shops or indeed much else within walking distance of the hotel, except for the port with a few eateries and shop. We stayed in October and the swimming pool and some of the hotel restaurants were closed, they said it was low season. This was disappointing as neither the hotel or Expedia pointed this out at the time of booking, if we had known we would have stayed elsewhere for sure. Overall a nice stay with minor niggles due to the low season.

I recommend Genjikoh for the amazing Japanese experience of enjoying the open bath overlooking the ocean and the various activities in the hotel such as the scent workshop. We booked a room for 5 and it was spacious and was pleasantly surprised it has 2 toilets. The sea view was breathtaking. We don’t book the meals as we don’t eat raw food but we had difficulty finding a good eatery outside as there are few amenities nearby and they close early. This place is great for those who drive but inaccessible otherwise even though the hotel has a shuttle bus. We are glad we had a rental car and could enjoy this great ryokan experience!

Staff: very friendly. They are very responsive to my questions. I managed to ask for pick up service just several hours before my arrival. They are able to entertain my request. At the property, staff is very friendly. I feel at home. Location: the onsen hotel is near utsumi station. There is a free pick up service from the station. A wonderful sea view from the room. Can walk along the coast anytime. There are a lot of restaurants nearby. But we chose to dine in at the hotel. Cleanliness and size : clean and spacious. The hotel probably spends a lot of money on the maintenance. The hotel looks very grand but at the same time looks very ‘japanese’. I have been to many onsen hotels and I would say this one is the best at this reasonable price! Highly recommended if you go to Nagoya
