Nice hotel with good parking. Staff are very pleasant and the hotel is kept very clean. Lounge areas and restaurant are very comfortable. Food was very good, lamb pie of the day was delicious and cooked to order English breakfast was excellent.

Room was clean & with lovely furnishings. Staff were excellent, friendly & helpful. Good choice for breakfast, eggs royale was lovely. Our dogs were welcomed & catered for. Some lovely sitting areas with comfy seats. A lovely place to stay with good amenities. Recommended.

We had a very nice overnight stay at the Crown. Staff were kind & welcoming on arrival, the room was clean and comfortable and well appointed, we had dinner in the restaurant which was really nice, drinks were a big pricey but I guess that's hotel pricing. Breakfast was really good, freshly prepared and very tasty. All in all really good, the only minor negative was the dated bathroom in our room, however the shower was really good, powerful and plenty of hot water so, does that really matter?

The hotel was like home from home, all members of staff made us very welcome and were exceedingly helpful. The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed both the breakfast and evening meals, good ingredients beautifully cooked and the service was quick and attentive. Our holiday was mainly to visit gardens in the surrounding area,, five of which were within one hours drive = heaven. York’s Park and Ride was a 20 minute drive away and we spent a good few hours sightseeing and shopping, including refreshments. Overall our stay at The Crown Hotel exceeded our expectations and we’re already looking at dates to return next year. The Golden Girls

I stayed one night in a double room. The downstairs of this hotel is OK, I arrived early (2pm) and it took me a while to find someone to ask if I could check in early. I couldn't so went off for a walk round the town (which is v nice). My room (40) was small, tbe bedroom window opened about 6 inches (not ideal in a heatwave in a room with no aircon), the bathroom was tired, mouldy grout and a mouldy shower curtain. The bed was very firm, a bit too firm for me. On the plus side - we ate in the restaurant and the food was really good. We just stayed one night and then headed on the next leg of our journey - I probably wouldn't stay again (but would eat there). Also there was no one on reception when I wanted to check out so I had to leave my key on the desk. It felt a bit understaffed.

Old building but for the price of the stay, excellent. I booked for a gym, not bad. Small, im glad not many people was in. One cable machine, some weights, two benches. Never used the pool. Food absolutely beautiful, chicken was amazing, compliments to the chef. Staff very nice and attentive.

First room that was offered was a single room with a king size bed in, second marginally better. For the £140 nights stay, without breakfast was very expensive for the quality of hotel and room. Have stay before and the room we had then was much better, so the pic of the draw if it’s fully booked. Also a nespreso machine in the room and no pods???

We used this hotel as a stop over, for the first time, on our way to Scotland. Great idea as the hotel is very close to the A1 and very welcoming and comfortable. It has a pool which was very relaxing before an enjoyable dinner. Also being in the centre of the village short local walks are welcome, especially to the river Ure to see the salmon steps. Rooms are very well appointed and interestingly decorated. The whole hotel is soft furnished giving a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Parking was free and secure. We will definitely stop here again. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay successful. Terry & Linda
