"I stayed for two nights in a superior room and left feeling disappointed overall. Positives first: the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the location is excellent for the city centre, and the shower was lovely. However, several issues affected our stay. The room had no proper curtains, so light came through the blinds, making it hard to sleep. There was also a skylight with a blind that couldn’t be closed due to its height, which made this worse. The TV had signal problems and eventually only showed half the screen. Furniture was poor—just one chair, and it had three wobbly legs. Storage and layout were not well thought out. There was only one small chest of drawers, which also held the coffee facilities, so there was no proper dressing table. The kettle couldn’t reach the nearest socket, so we had to boil it on the floor. The mirror setup was inconvenient: a full-length mirror near the entrance had no lighting, and a smaller mirror wasn’t near a socket for drying or styling hair. Overall, the room did not match the superior standard or the photos advertised. While the staff and location were great, the room itself needs significant improvement."

"Arrival- staff were helpful: My room was too hot, so another room was found for me. Any questions I had were dealt with immediately and successfully. Parking is available (1st come - 1st served!!) but reasonable cost. Central position and near most amenities, shops, etc."

"Room very clean, beds very comfortable. Only criticism is the bathroom could do with an upgrade (stayed im a family room). Air conditioning effective and easy to work."

"Clean room and bathroom , towels and sheets. Hot water. Hot water initially discoloured from sink tap but cleared. Apparently due to heating Room heater didn’t work Lift was broken when I stayed. Steep stairs and upper floor room ok for me , but impossible for any disability. Stairwell grubby."

"The staff there was really lovely The room we stayed in was not really kept well and the upkeep was a bit poor and it was not the cleanest. The breakfast was nice it was a breakfast buffet next door. The gym was small but decent for a workout The pool sauna and jacuzzi was amazing, steam room wasn’t working when I went though or was not set up "

"Rooms were cleaned to an extremely high standard. WiFi worked well enough for my needs. Was only watching YouTube whilst relaxing in the evening . Wouldn't know what it would be like if i had to use it during the day for work. Breakfast was very nice. Not the most amazing selection but food items were replenished before they completely ran out and tables were cleared and cleaned very quickly "

"Good room -very clean . Nice to have a canal view .The Spa pool was fabulous. The hotel felt quite basic however for a 4 star hotel . No room service food available .No basic toiletries like soap/ shower gel or shampoo provided. There was no relaxing lounge area with sofas to sit in & enjoy -just a bar area with tv that was quite noisy . The staff were all very welcoming & friendly however . The hotel is in a good location-well positioned for walking into Chester’s city centre . "

"Hotels.com asked for a breakfast specific review, so: Breakfast was a quick and simple hot and cold buffet with plenty of delicious things on offer. Decent coffees are an issue though as you have to pay extra, which seems a little old fashioned. and sometimes they don't switch the coffee machine on early enough."
