Staff was helpful but the online checkin was confusing. If you book through a travel app -- you need to dig to find the code and there is no notification that you need to download the GOKI app. Inside the lobby of Carey Centre (though there are no signs to tell you) there is a reception desk where the staff was very helpful. Good value and very convenient location for any UBC-area travel needs. Would recommend it.

It is basic which is what I needed, the room is tired and worn. Window have no screens so if you open them, you have the bugs, no air conditioning. TV did not work, lock to get in the room was broken so had to get a key from reception, old cracked and worn flooring walls bathroom. Bedding and towels were clean so that was a plus.

Dirty room, plastic shower curtain was half melted, room smelled of damp/feet like a locker room, bathroom fan never functioned, paint peeling off the walls. Poorly maintained property. You get what you pay for in Vancouver.

What's not to love? It's a lovely facility, UBC campus is beautiful, and it's very peaceful. The rooms are spartan (they're dorms), but they randomly had the *most* amazing towels I've ever had at a hotel, and I've stayed at many top-end hotels (picture bath sheets two inches thick). Toiletries are mid, bring your own shampoo & conditioner unless you are ok with 2 in 1. Breakfast is a bit hit and miss (terrible coffee and eggs, pretty good pancakes & bacon). If you're planning on being in your room just to sleep, it's perfect.

Rooms are very basic but the twin beds were very comfortable. Had a small fridge and coffee machine with modest supplies. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great location on campus as I was near my daughter to visit for her birthday. Code needed to access elevator and rooms so I felt safe. The breakfast that was included offered pancakes, eggs, bacon and potatoes. Cereals, juices, coffee and tea. I did mention at booking that I was gluten free - would have been nice to have GF toast and/or pancakes available. Ventured out for breakfast on second day as local coffee places had GF muffin, donut and cookies options available. Restaurants on campus also had gluten friendly options noted on menus.

I had a good stay here. The staff were polite and helpful. The room was clean, spacious and had all the things i needed. They also had free breakfast every morning, which was pretty good. My minor complaint would be the internet though. The guest internet connection was on some kind of safe mode, which meant i could not access youtube videos which were discussing certain subjects. I don't think adults internet access should be restricted to some kind of safe mode, which are meant to be for kids. Overall, a good stay. 9/10. Fix the internet (aka remove safe mode) and i would be inclined to give it 10/10

The positive thing about this stay is the easy check in. It is all self serve. This should be explained better on the posting though. The room was value priced for Vancouver but it should be noted that this is a dorm room with little amenities. The sheets and pillows smelled like they hadn’t been washed, the tv did not work and there aren’t enough plug ins for the lamp that’s in the room. Wouldn’t recommend unless you wanted to stay in the area (UBC) and wanted below market pricing. Breakfast was the best perk as it was a hot, basic student meal.

I arrived at my room after a long day of traveling only to find a two large pails collecting water dripping from the ceiling, a plastic sheet on the floor, and a toppled “wet floor” sign in front of my room. The front desk said they couldn’t do anything for me, they were fully booked. Not only was I not alerted to the situation, so I had no other options, but this posed a hazard and the room should not have been booked.

The property was located in a quiet and naturally landscaped neighborhood of the UBC community. I had booked a queen room but eventually got a twin bed. There was no air conditioning in the room. Just a table fan. The standard of hygiene was suspect. The sheets, although laundered, had an oil stain and the pillowcase had make up marks which were missed in the laundry. Our shower curtain rod fell down the first time we used it. The paint was peeling off the walls. Parking was expensive at $26/day. Breakfast was very adequate and basic and the servers were abrupt.
