The property was exceptionally beautiful. The pools were amazing. The staff other than the reception clerk when we checked-in were very good and helpful. He had to be told to help us with the luggage and I carried a couple myself.

Resort was just amazing, felt like we were at home and was very welcomed. The stuff were very helpful and so friendly. Would 100% recommend this location was everything is so close to the resort and is very affordable. Wifi had noooo issues which was a surprise worked everyday. And the bedroom was just so comforting.

The staff were all fantastic. Place was very clean and close to Ubud main center. The villas were beautiful. We had our own private pool which the kids loved!

Fab little resort!
Great little resort with a lovely setting - the pool villa was fabulous and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming - no request was ever to much. Highly recommend.

Lovely stay at the Sungu
We had a great stay at The Sungu. Firstly they happily picked us up from the airport late in the evening, 5 hours later than initially arranged due to changed flights. Our room was beautiful and clean. Breakfast was delicious, and so was the afternoon tea and cake. There is a shuttle in and out of Ubud central at any time you like, even though it really is close enough to walk. Overall we had a lovely stay and I would happily return to The Sungu.

Beautiful luxury in Ubud
Amazing location, walking distance to downtown Ubud and Alchemy restaurant. Safe and beautiful premises. I couldn’t believe how affordable room service was. My kids loved it all. The only challenge was front desk staff at times didn’t speak English.

Great service, good location and a very nice room
Hotel staff have been wonderful throughout our 3 night stay. We thought the hotel location was ideal; it's out of the hustle and bustle of central Ubud but walking distance to it and they offer a shuttle service to the town centre. There was a complimentary afternoon treat every day and we got free tickets and drop off and pick up to the Rudana museum.

Family stay in Ubud
A perfect spot to explore the sights of Ubud. Located a little outside the main centre you are cloistered away from the hustle and bustle of the town and associated traffic. An easy walk into town but the staff are always willing to shuttle you in as well. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable along with an amazing Balinese feel. A great place for couples or families.

Lovely, stylish & friendly boutique hotel/resort
The staff went out of their way to make our (family of 5) stay as pleasant as possible. The hotel has a great atmosphere with its Balinese style and intimate layout that still offers privacy.

Second stay in The Sungu and it was Great !
Second stay in The Sungu, and it was great, great staff, great service and free shuttle service to made us easier to move around in Ubud area. Of course we love the semi-outdoor shower, pool and the greenery. Don’t miss the Vegan food restaurant “Alchemy” which just 1min walk away from the villa if you stay The Sungu. We will definitely come back again.

Private bungalow with pool
This was a well-located and very pleasant resort just 15 mins walk fro Ubud. We stayed in a bungalow with our own private plunge pool. The staff were very attentive and pleasant and the resort was very comfortable. We were also close to some of Ubud's best restaurants, including the Yellow Flower, Moksa, Bridges, Indus, Elephant, Melting Wok and La Pacha Mama.

Hotel doesn't provide basic toiletries especially toothbrush/shaver set . There is no TV in room. Wifi basically is on/off at room area Walkway towards room is slippery due to moss growth. Food is average

Great oasis
The staff were all nice, helpful, great space, loved the canopy bed & outdoor shower & wonderful bathroom! The terrace was so nice along with daily fruits, flowers on bed, drivers too, one was a really good tour guide. The daily breakfast was great, flavors and presentation wonderful! Lobby nice too, but chairs could use updating cushions. On same block JamBali restaurant good too.

Not a 4 Star!
The hotel is noted as a 4 star but the reality was quite different: -The bathroom floor is very slippery. Not a big deal until someone falls and seriously injures themselves. My kids kept on slipping and I had to lay towels all over the floor. -In the middle of the night, there was a bat flying in my bathroom! -Lots of roaches in the bathroom. I asked them to clean it up, they must have sprayed while I was out. Once I came back, I saw numerous dead roaches and had to clean them up, myself! -Staff consists of many trainees who do not speak English. This was not a big deal, but then there was a gas leak and someone came to our room to say "gas leak", we could not understand anything else. I expect that the older/perm staff members handle such situations. -I wanted breakfast with no bacon, but my dish came with bacon. The waiter (trainee), took out the bacon with a fork. I explained that I can not eat this because the food has touched the bacon....this was very hard to explained. In these situations again, I expect the older/perm staff to take care of the issue. For a 4 star hotel, this was not run in a 4 star manner. The trainees are relied on too much for all tasks and with their limited English it makes it hard for us to communicate basic things. There is a major cleanliness issue. I will not be going back to this resort.

Heaven on earth

Nice hotel location in Ubud
The hotel was very pleasing and at a great location within walking distance to town, the staff were always pleasant, the free area shuttle service was useful and the room was always clean when we returned. The only bad thing about it I can think of was that the shower was cold and one of the bedside lamps didn't have an on/off switch and the cabling looked unsafe. Though after notifying the reception, they had electricians come fix the lamp almost immediately and also informed us the shower took 15min to warm up which was better then no hot water at all.

Beautiful quiet villa a short walk from busy Ubud
Very welcoming and comfortable villa, our second stay here, it's the perfect place to relax with Ubud on your doorstep, we spent a lot of time swimming with our toddler, we stayed in 2 bedroom 2 story villa with outdoor style bathroom overlooking pool with private courtyard, very pleasant and looking forward to when we visit again....

Pinch me! We are at Sungu!
We arrived to a warm welcome and a welcome drink in a champagne glass. Grounds were beautiful. We took pictures every way we turned. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. I was interested in a full moon festival and one of the staff personally took us to a ceremony that there were no other tourists attending. We needed sarongs and he even provided those and female staff members helped us to tie them correctly. Breakfast was efficient, beautifully presented and delicious. Pools were made for photos. The grounds were lush and well maintained. Complimentary transportation into Ubud city center is available all day long till 10 pm. The only negative thing is the walk into the city center is difficult. It is about a 10 minute walk. But roads are narrow, hilly and very busy. Maps do not tell the whole story. It is possible. We are walkers, but desired the ease and safety of the complimentary transportation. Cannot say enough good things about this place. The perfect place to land after a long journey to Bali.

pro - 1. staff very nice and responsibility. Hotel have provided free shuttle bus to ubud town, and a lot free activities. 2. We stay double storey two night, free comfort and relax. Room is very big to enough 5 people to stay. 3. Ard 20min walking to ubud town ( for my experience) con - bed is abit higher , and wood frame is hard. always hit my leg.

Beautiful private villa with own private pool. Spacious rooms. Breakfast included was good, albeit not amazing. Service was good but could be better: cleaning could be better; the staff tries to "sell" you too many trips or activities. But overall a beautiful and very relaxing stay at the Sungu.

It was an excellent villa
Yes it is comfortable and excellent I recommend it for all, There is two disadvantage which is it is 1 Hrs. from the airport and for more of tourist place and this will lead more quiet and avoid noisy places which is an advantage. The second is there is no open meals for the breakfast .

The staff here are super friendly and eager to please. The hotel itself is very clean and the bathrooms with the outdoor showers are amazing! The free breakfast in the morning was also very good. The free shuttle also came in handy.

A Lovely Resort with Beautiful Landscaping
That was really impressed us to stay in such a lovely resort. The Baliness designed Bungalow with tropical garden surrounding, quiet and feel very relaxing. The resort is near to the town center ( 10 minutes walk, you can enjoy shopping slowly to the town center ) The Excellent shuttle service is provided to the resort guess. and we can used the shuttle service to the town center as many time as we wanted . The drivers always stay by to send us to the town area, and to pick up when we wanted to go back for a rest. The room is big, clean and comfortable with fresh flowers placed in the room. The bathroom is big, near the shower area, the designed was Semi-open Air concept, and there is a bathtub attached on the other corner. The staff will clean the room twice a day and during evening time, the staff will help to put down the mosquito net and on the light in the room. The Breakfast was delicious with many choices in the menu. The Staff are really helpful, friendly, and very polite. We will come back to The Sungu Resort again.
