Hospitality at this hotel was amazing. My room and view were perfection as well. I loved this small resort with the personalized service. The beach was relaxing. The hammocks on the dock and paddle boards were my favorite. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a very lovely and relaxing stay of 6 nights. The hotel is situated right on the beach of a bay with a reef, where you can walk up and down the beach. The hotel is very clean, the beds very comfortable, and the aircon very good. There are sockets at the head bedside. The restaurant is excellent - we didn't need to look anywhere else. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend getting a hire care, as the hotel is a little out from Tulum (which is also its charm - you can't have it both ways 😉).

We loved our stay at Casa Altamar. The restaurant staff was gracious, helpful, and made our stay a delight. We enjoyed the small, quiet, private beach area as an alternative to a busy, large, noisy, resort.

This is a small, simple, elegant hotel, very well cared for by a devoted team. Casa Altamar has personality, nice design, beautiful wood finishing/furniture, woven rugs and lampshades, it feels connected to the location. The place is spotless, rooms are cleaned every day. The landscaping is naturalistic and very well done, exotic flowers and palms moving in the breeze. It’s also very functional, the windows have insect screens, it’s air conditioned, there’s a place to wash off sand by the doors. The water for food prep and drinking is purified, coffee, juice and fruit is freely available in the morning. This made me feel almost like a guest in a private home. The location is a 15 minute taxi ride from Tulum town, right on the beach, which is edged with palm trees. We swam every day in the warm sea, saw fishes and a manta ray. You can walk for hours along the beach. The staff here are very special and there is a happy vibe, the restaurant has a terrace with a sea view where you can hang out and enjoy freshly prepared delicious food. Sad to leave! Kudos to Arturo, Amin, John, Diane, Javier and all the staff. Tip: bring water shoes as there are some rocks getting into the sea. Also, you can get a collectiva bus into Tulum for about 35 pesos if you want to party or try other restaurants.

Petit hôtel qu'on a adoré. Chambres propres, spacieuses et insonorisées. Douche avec eau chaude et débit (!!) assez rare apparemment au Mexique pour être souligné. Kayak, padle, masque et tuba en libre service. Service aux petits soins quelque soit le membre du personnel. Tellement adorables que même si normalement le petit déjeuner n'est pas inclus, ils ne pouvaient pas ouvrir la cuisine du restaurant sans offrir un petit quelque chose. Il y a donc un petit petit-déjeuner servis, minimaliste mais très bon et fait largement l'affaire (surtout avec la vue !). On a tellement aimé qu'on a rajouté 1 nuit. Le restaurant est vraiment très bon. Ne pas hésiter, surtout le midi, encore une fois pour profiter de la vue sur le ponton. Je recommanderais l'entrée de toast au thon, je crois n'avoir jamais un aussi bon thon. Je mettrais juste un bémol sur le tarif des cocktails (12-15€ avec le tips). C'est prohibitif donc tu hésites ou tu partages un cocktail pour 2. Vaut-il mieux 15€ pour 1 ou 20€ pour 2 cocktails ? Seul le gérant saura répondre Il faut aussi être préparé aux 500m/1km de chemin plein de trous avant d'arriver à l'hôtel. On était en berline relativement basse et ça n'a pas posé de problème.

Our room was beautiful, comfortable and spacious. We loved the pool and ocean access, and lounging on the beach. The staff at Casa Altamar were the best we met on our 2 week trip to Mexico. They were so kind, accommodating and thoughtful. Tulum is a unique destination, with different "zones," each with their own vibe. Casa Altamar is north of the town center and "party" beach area. That means you get a quiet and secluded beach (huge plus!) It is a 15min drive to town if you want to explore other parts of Tulum and there are only a few restaurant options nearby, though the hotel's own restaurant is tasty and reasonably priced for the area. It isn't a sandy entry-point beach but the water is beautiful to swim in, they provide snorkels, paddleboards and kayaks.

Nettes Hotel mit recht einfacher Ausstattung, aber direkt am Strand gelegen. Die Aussicht von der Restaurantterrasse ist umwerfend. Das Personal absolut freundlich und zuvorkommend. Leider erschwert das viele Seegras den Zugang zum Meer. Aber es gibt einen Badesteg. Familien mit Kindern sollten dennoch ein anderes Hotel wählen. Expedia sollte die Bilder überprüfen, mit denen für das Hotel geworben wird. Der abgebildete Pool bspw. gehört zum Nachbargebäude. Das ist etwas irreführend.

Great accommodations, well run, delicious restaurant Stayed here 6 nights, absolutely loved it! Beach - 30 feet water to door - kayaks, paddleboards, water shoes, etc. kayaked each day, and always got equipment - BEST place overall was 2 hammocks at end of the pier! Maintenance - many other properties have 'sargasso' problems - thick, smelly, decaying seaweed - Casa Altamar shovels and removes sargasso daily to keep beach clean - similar diligence cleaning bird poop off pier, vs other nearby hotels Staff - Arturo, Javier, Armin, and others all excellent! - learned our names, food preferences, assisted concerning sites, or refilling bottles - spoke English at least as well as my Spanish :) Restaurant - AMAZING! small menu, but everything *fresh*, well-prepared and presented - favs are tacos arracheras, skirt steak, and everything shrimp - directly above our room - but closes at 9:30PM. happy whole area quiet by 10PM Couple negatives - room advertised as having kitchenette, balcony, and 'laptop compatible safe' - no kitchen, or even mini-fridge in room - tiny (3 sq ft) area outside a sliding door just to hang clothes to dry - safe fits passports or smartphones max. not anchored, and weighs 5 pounds That I'm giving a 5-star review despite the issues says a lot about how great Casa Altamar is. These issues need fixed - with the room, or the listing. However, the property is just so stellar in general. Would definitely want to stay here again next time in Tulum!

We felt so lucky to have our time at Casa Altimar! It's a sweet little boutique (gem) of a place that we'd certainly hope to travel back to. The friendly atmosphere, delicious food and gorgeous views for days along with the hammocks, sporting gear and loungers was just perfect! Thank you so much for a relaxing time.

Casa Altamar exceeded our expectations. Everyone made us feel welcome and like family. Arturo and literally everyone feels like friends. Our room was beautiful, the food was to die for, and the uncrowded beach was exactly what we were looking for. So thank you to everyone at Casa Altamar for being just the best.
