"Overall, we had a great stay. The room was huge and the beds were very comfortable, although dated with furnishings. This wasn’t really an issue because it added to the overall charm of the place. The breakfast was amazing. Don’t even think of getting a package that doesn’t include breakfast. It was marvelous. We did have one rather uncomfortable experience with the attendants in the pool and gym area. We were just walking around, checking it out, fully dressed ( lol) …it was very obvious that we were hotel guests. My husband walked into the locker room so he could see what the pool was like closer up, and the attendant came running out and asked me out of breath if I saw the strange man that went into the pool area without checking in first… well no one was at the desk to check in so that was probably the first problem. I stared back at her and said , “Um that that’s my husband and we are hotel guest. He just wanted to see what the pool looked like up close. “ She screamed at me and told me that he didn’t have a swim cap and I said ‘ well he’s fully clothed so I’m pretty sure he’s not planning on jumping in the pool’ . She didn’t even apologize for her rude demeanor. That was the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth …other than that the hotel is amazing."
"Overall a Safe choice, spacious bedrooms and ensuites. Clean and cosy with some quirky stylish decor in breakfast/coffee area.
Competitively priced rooms, 25mins walk from kilkenny city center but also with the addition of the KK2 bus stop for the public bus route running every 30 minutes to and from the city being only a few minutes walk away from the hotel door to assist those with tired legs.
It has a very comfortable and well stocked bar, helpful staff and the bar food is tasty but admittedly the menu could do with a little more imagination.
I would and will return although I feel this property has the potential to be so much more with a little professional advice on how to up its game while also attracting extra custom and revenue.
It's in close proximity to two large hospitals and some local targeted advertising to expand and up the usage of their very pleasant cafe and bar/restaurant would be a start.
Thought could also be given to installation of some EV charging points to their carpark with customer priority as at present the nearest EV chargers are over 2km away. Rediculously neither of the close by hospitals provide EV charging.
I'm sure a professional could add a whole lot more to this list of potential improvements to make this nice little hotel really shine, but for the moment as it stands it still remains a good, clean and sensible choice for those looking for a good value accommodation close to kilkenny city."
"My husband & I always stay at this lovely hotel when we visit southern Ireland _ when we arrive & when we are heading for Rosslaire Ferry port . The staff are just SO kind & helpful the Bistro manageress is just " top notch " at her job her guests are made to feel special now that is rare . Ludo at the bar remembered us from 18 months back that meant alot to us . We truly cannot recommend this hotel enough it's a must stay hotel ."
"We stayed 10 days in Ireland, driving around staying in different towns. We wanted to spend a day in Kilkenny and we decided to stay outside the city limits. We were a bit worried that it was too far, but it was worth it. The staff were excellent, the rooms were clean and felt like a traditional modern hotel. The bar and restaurant were good. I would 100% stay here again on my next trip."
"Very friendly and helpful staff.
Great food in the bar !!
Bedrooms had everything needed and the beds are very comfortable!
Would definitely stay again."
"Nice place, comfortable rooms. Easy to find and close to M8 and Cashel.
We heard a few noises out in the hall. We also did not have a way to set our heat in the room.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Would come back!"
