「A warm welcome from Jenny. Excellent breakfasts. A characterful property of considerable age with slightly quirky elements: who would expect statues of a Buddha and komodo dragon in a former abbey? Our en suite room room was spacious and clean. The large bed looked a little antique, but was very comfortable. Many would join us in liking like that mix of character and comfort.」

Very disappointed that they had a special curry and pint offer where you couldn't have and alternative drink and when we ordered the curry anyway we were charged £20 without the beer wheras it was £15 with the beer!」

「The inn is steeped in history and in a remote, quiet spot. Unfortunately our room had been left with unsightly water marks as a result of a leaking roof (which has been fixed) all over the ceiling, especially above the bed, and wall. It made the room look very shabby and for the price not great value. The floating floor feels like it’s a sinking floor in some spots and you need to tread lightly. The bathroom is modern and spacious. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and friendly.」

「I paid higher price for a room with a private bathroom, unfortunately the private bathroom is not in my room, my wife and I had to walk across the public landing, passing another room door, to get to the “private bathroom”. There are small insects too, we don’t mind the spiders, but the flies are quite annoying.」

Terrific ambiance, inside and out, including outdoor dining options, The hosts were helpful and charming, going out of their way to make us feel welcome and helping me fix a scheduling hiccup too. And there are two friendly pub cats! Super convenient location in the center of picturesque Lostwithiel, not far from the train station, though you do have a bit of a hill to climb.
