The gateway to a beautiful island chain is a small bustling pier where large luxury yachts and traditional fishing boats moor side by side.
Most visitors use the Ko Phi Pier to get from their boat onto the beautiful island of Ko Phi Phi Don. After you've stepped off your boat, organize snorkeling and scuba diving adventures and set out to explore the archipelago.
Six small islands make up the Phi Phi islands group, and they are surrounded by clear waters, ideal conditions for some underwater investigating. Book a diving course at the pier to explore the archipelago’s coral reefs and shipwrecks. Whether you go diving or snorkeling, you are bound to see a host of colorful marine life.
To enjoy the scenery above the water, climb aboard one of the yachts that sail from the pier. Single and multi-day trips are available. You can also book an excursion to the other islands in the chain.
Go to the uninhabited island of Phi Phi Leh and visit Viking Cave, a sea cave adorned with paintings of Viking ships. The pictures are believed to be a couple of hundred years old, not of Viking origin. Relax on the beautiful beaches of Bamboo Island. A very popular beach in the archipelago is Maya Bay on the island of Ko Phi Phi Lee. The Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Beach was filmed here.
Return to Ko Phi Phi Don and stay overnight in one of the hotels and resorts located close to the pier. Enjoy a drink in a bar while planning the next day’s activities. Make one of those undertakings a walk to the top of Phi Phi viewpoint. It may only be 610 feet (186 meters) above sea level, but the elevated views are gorgeous.
If you do stay overnight, enjoy the island's nightlife. Whether you want a chilled-out bar or one where there's a party in full swing, you'll find something to your taste in the island's three main areas. They are Tonsai Village, Tonsai East and Loh Dalum Bay.
Regular ferries run to Ko Phi Phi Pier from several places in Thailand. The trip from Phuket takes about 2 hours, while the journey from the small town of Krabi is about 30 minutes less.
