"We have mixed views on this Banyan Tree Property. The room and the grounds were lovely and very well maintained, including things for kids to do, however there were some key details lacking which means this property falls short of the standards we expect from Banyan Tree. Firstly the service was quite frosty and not as attentive as it could have been, I know there was a language barrier, but it doesn’t account for everything. Please note I would not put our butler in this category - Teresa was absolutely fantastic and a testament to the hotel. Nothing was too much effort for her and she made our stay very enjoyable. Secondly, the breakfast was very average in terms of quality of food and service. I would expect much better from a five star property. Finally, there was a terrible paint fumes smell at the swimming pool on the final day of our stay. Other guests also commented on this."

"We loved this hotel. It is situated next to the ancient town of Xingping and you need to get a small ferry across the river to get to it if you come from Yangshuo Railway Station. However, it’s worth the little extra effort as it feels like a getaway quiet retreat from the busy streets of the town. There are many outdoor activities around the hotel that can be scheduled. The owner is amazing and nothing is too much effort for her to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel also helps with transportation to and from the hotel and for some activities. The feel is more akin to staying in someone’s home rather than a hotel. The rooms and spacious and comfortable and the dinner food is delicious. The breakfast is simple but tasty, especially the local noodle soup. Definitely a special place."

"The location is absolutely perfect. You are right on the Li River, and it's an easy walk to both the wharf and the bustling West Street, yet the hotel itself is quiet and peaceful. The facilities were clean and modern, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. (It would be absolutely perfect if they added a coffee machine to the breakfast area, but this was a minor thing in an otherwise wonderful stay.)"

"The hotel was great. The staff are so unbelievably helpful and lovely. Whoever the owner is should do all they can to keep the staff they have, they are nothing short of fantastic. Breakfast was good and we ate dinner once too and we were really happy. The location is great, not too far from town but far enough to be peaceful and quiet. We also appreciated the free shuttle in the evening to town. We walked back twice but it was also easy to get a Didi taxi. Highly recommend this place."
