Lack of amenities but clean facility
The shower is a shared public one. It's a Japanese style bath with 2 shower heads and a large hot tub in one room (no privacy). For toilets, there's only 1 on each floor to be shared by everyone on that floor. Also, no ac in the room. Facility was clean but didn't expect the amenities to be as such.

Nice location, good staff, but not so clean
Nice location, very close to the jr ueno station (you may hear the train running all night). It’s also located near a large market. The staff was great and helpful, but the room itself is a little bit dirty. The shower curtain has some mole.

It is a very traditional japanese property, most of the instructions are in Japanese and not available in English such as the heater, also please do note that "Shared Bathroom" is like a communal bathroom (Big bathroom with several showers and one big bathtub) so please be sure you're comfortable with being nude in front of others. None of these are issues and I highly recommend Kinuya Honkan, excellent service, cozy bedrooms and it has one of the best locations for a very good price. It is almost in front of Ueno Keisei Station which connects directly to Narita (NRT) Intl Airport which makes a very convenient location, you are literally 3 minutes away by walking from the station.

The only thing I loved was the excellent location. Room was quite small for 3 pax; only one toilet and one bath room for ladies at my level (men toilet and bathroom on another floor); Lobby area smelled horrible as it was a designated smoking area.

This place is in the Ameyoko area, very lively atmosphere and not far from Ueno station which is a big advantage. The room was traditional japans style with Tatami and futons which I like it very much. Shower room and toilet were clean. I was happy staying there.

Ueno is great area for food etc. There are western beds but we had futons on floor which are a bit like camping and not hugely comfortable. Highly recommend location; hotel just recommend

Not modern but has its own character
The room: I selected the Japanese style room for 1 person. At the time of booking, the only choice I have is smoking. It wasn't my preference, but it wasn't too bad. Japanese style room means sleeping on a futon instead of a bed. I like it as it gives me more space in the room, but if you prefer a soft bed or has trouble getting up from the floor, this might not be for you. For the same reason, there are no chairs in the room, so you have to sit on the floor. The location: Very convenient, and the main reason I picked this hotel. It's 2 mins from the metro station and 3 mins from the train station (which are actually connected underground too). There is a train that takes you to and from Narita directly. It's right in the Ameyoko market, so while convenient, it can be noisy to some (but that doesn't bother me). Restroom (toilet): My room does not come with its own bathroom, but each floor has a restroom with toilets but not bathing facility. On my floor, there were 2 urinals and 2 commodes (one "western" style and one "Japanese" style). I had not experienced any wait time. Bathing Facility: There is only 1 bathing facility and it's a public bath. It's quite small though so practically you'll only be sharing the bath with 1 other person (instead of a big room full of guys). That doesn't bother me but I can see some might not be comfortable. The worst part is the hours: it only opens from 2p-10p.

獨立和室+共用廁所+共用浴室=真的是日式旅館！ 還有獨立空調出風機，怕中央冷氣不足時可自行調教適合自己的溫度。 地點良好，處於飲食街中心，食肆便利店商場都在5分鐘步行範圍內，車站亦都10分鐘可到達。 不過房間所提供的白毛巾上有一個小小藍色的垃圾（貼紙？）還有一條短髮，坐墊下的榻榻米上都有污潰，清潔上有待改善。 大堂是可吸煙區，所以每次出入旅館都可能沾上煙味。

房間內有奇怪的味道，很難聞，噴了芳香劑開冷氣味道都散不掉、房內的快煮壺內還有水，清潔人員沒有確認、另服務人員櫃檯抽煙，服務態度不太好、入住非常後悔，花錢取消訂房，慘
