Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon

"We stayed at the Foss hotel, Glacier Lagoon for two nights because it's location is perfect for glacier hikes and visiting the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. The hotel is smart and clean and seems to have good green credentials. The food was excellent (breakfast and dinner) although the breakfast bar did get exceptionally crowded on the one morning. Our room had a beautiful view out towards the sea. It was very comfortable but did get excessively hot as we were staying there in unusually warm weather and there were no controls to cool the room. The small window only provided relief when we opened the door into the corridor to allow the hot air to blow through. next to the hotel is a beautiful waterfall which is well work the 5 minute stroll to admire."

"We are family of 4, and wanted to stay near Diamond beach and the glacial lagoon. This property is 10 min drive away. Spacious functional stand-alone house with separate bedroom, living room and kitchen. Cute and unique. Quiet and nice surrounding with waterfall walking distance. Received two instructions to checked-in, one to drive 3km away to get code, and another to checked in directly using given code. Wanted to make sure, hence drove the distance to get the code, turned out the same. Some heating radiators, as well as hair dryer not working well. No extra rubbish disposal bag. No washing machine nor dish washer. No slippers. No shampoo nor conditioners. Small and cold toilet and shower area. Not cheap either. Use this as place to stay the night, if necessary."

"When you drive up it looks like an older property and the decor of the rooms is a little old fashioned. However, we had a wonderful stay at this farm guesthouse. The family who own the farm and run the place are very friendly and helpful, providing all sorts of good information on where to eat in town and also the best places to view some of the mountains and glaciers. The room was very clean and while the bathrooms (and the showers they contained) were shared they were kept very clean. There was a continental breakfast with cereal and some hot options (sausage, baked beans). Two things that are really lovely about the property are the presence of numerous birds in and around the farm and farm houses and the amazing glaciers behind the property. It is also superbly placed to get to numerous amazing sights on the south coast."
