This is the first hotel experience where I had to switch rooms 3 times due to the smell. The rooms were muggy and humid, this couple with the smell from the air/air condition I was already looking to check out after barely sleeping through the first night.
The rooms are old and the vinyl floors are peeling at the edges. The only comfort were the fluffly yet firm pillows but sadly even that was stained by the smell of the damp air. I don't know how this hotel is rated 3-4 stars. It is 2.5 at most.
Thankfully the front desk was accommodating to switch the rooms multiple times. However my guess is thay they are used to this complaint as I had one guest demanding a refund while I was waiting in the small lobby for my taxi.
Overall, my first experience in Taiwan was tainted as a result of my hotel experience. Thankfully, Taipei's food experience made up for it.
