Loved this immaculate hotel which is in a remodeled commercial building. Nice staff, several breakfast options, great location for walking to Shennong Street, Hayashu Department Store, Garden St. Night Market, and more. I would only have wished for better coffee; a Nespresso machine would have made our stay perfection.

Great value hotel. The retro theme and decor make it stand out, staff are terrific too, very professional, helpful and friendly. Good location for restaurants nearby plus the hotel provides a substantial breakfast.

Excellent hotel - rooms are clean and modern, breakfast was delicious and staff was helpful. Since there was no iron in my room, they lent me a steamer. Location in Central West District is good for walkability to Shennong Street and Wusheng Night Market - 15 min walk and bus ride to the train station though

Service and room was excellent! We had originally booked 3 nights in a room with tatami mats, but after our arrival, we realized it was not for us and we had made a mistake. We asked the hotel staff if we could switch to a room with a bed for the remainder of the stay and they were so generous to accommodate the request. Breakfast each morning was excellent and this is the perfect location to explore the West Central District by foot. Great food and drink options all in walking distance. Highly recommended!

Cleanliness is top notched. Room is big. Some basic necessities could be requested during the stay. Concierge speaks good English and is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There are many eateries around the hotel and some tourist spots are within walking distance. 1 night stay on a Sunday night cost about USD50 and it comes with free breakfast for 2 pax.

A comfortable stay in the heart of Tainan City

It’s like falling in love at the first sight. Since looking at Retro Taipan’s pictures on Google review, I know this is the one. It has a unique appeal with its combination of Japanese vintage and industrial design. Moreover, the location is surrounded by many attractions and delicious foods within walking distance. Above all, its top-notch mention is COMFORT! Spacious room, just-the-right-hardness of mattress dressed in a crisp linen, spotless bathroom with Japanese toilet & aromatic scented of shampoo and bath gel….free-refills of drinking water, delish breakfast & Mandeiling coffee..I can’t ask for more.
