I’ve stayed many times in Taichung at many different hotels. This is by far the best hotel in Taichung. The room and hotel were spotless with beautiful modern decor. The service provided by the staff were also exceptional. I spoke to both hotel managers (Kay and Angel) during our stay and they went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant stay.
Location was also very central so we were able to get everywhere we needed with public transportation or walking.
My only complaint is the breakfast buffet at Il Lemone. I felt that for a 5 star hotel the food could be better tasting with larger selection. I felt some of the bread selection was sometimes stale tasting and the fresh fruit offering was minimal. Although the fresh juice selection was exceptional (fresh carrot, kiwi, pineapple, celery juice).
Overall, an exceptional stay and highly recommended.
Clean and comfortable. The shower was separated from toilet which was ideal. Also had bathtub. Amenities used in the hotel was to notch. Location of hotel was convenient to everything but needed. Highly recommended.
Very new , clean and convenient . Room is well organized , good bath tub , excellent towels but you better bringing your own toothbrush, shaving kits … etc . It’s understandable for environmental concern but charging you extra $200 NTD is ridiculous , most other less expensive hotels are free if you ask . Another strange management issue is no express checking out line . Everybody waiting on a long line to check out during noon time . For what ? Wasting employees and customer’s time . It’s one of the most expensive hotel in Taichung why let those small issues ruin customer’s feeling . At Ritz Carlton , Peninsula and many lesser hotels you can just throw room key at designated area or box and walk out giving customers a flowing and flawless feeling . They already get your credit card , so for what .
Food is excellent with good quality and choice but sitting is bit cramped . You often have to share same table with strangers , another management issue probably due to limited floor space .
When I went for breakfast, I was told by the receptionist that all tables are full. And she can put me in a 6 people table, but I will have other joining me. Or the option is to eat in the bar section on the opposite side of the restuarant (that means I have to walk across the hallway and then all the way to the back of the restaurant to get food!!!). I asked if I can wait because it was the first time I got asked to eat away from the restuarnat and walk across the hallway to the bar area. Then 15 seconds later they took me to a table, and to my suprise, there were about 10 to 15 empty tables for 2 people !!!
Not very nice to ask me to eat in the bar, so they can save the tables for other guests???
I spoke to the manager on call at the front desk, and all he did was apologize, and then..., nothing ???? I guess it was not unusual to hear these types complaints in the hotel.
The other issue was, my wife was having a drink at the bar. Then our friends showed up, so she asked the waiter to move the 2 tables together so we can talk. They refused! When I came down to join them, I thought is was rediculous that we can not put the tables together. So I ask the bartendar directly (who was a foreigner), and immediately said it was ok to move the table together.
We will never stay at this hotel again!!!
Staff at Intercontinental had an attitude problem did not make me feel welcome and treated me like a number and rushed me through the check in process. Horrible customer service.
I have two perspectives. Mine and my wife’s
The property is located in a nice contemporary area. Across the street is a central mini garden/walk way that vendors and street performers are located.
On another corner across the street is a very nice high end buidling full of department stores. On B1 floor is a food court with nice restaurants and foodie places.
The door man/woman staff are very helpful always opening the doors and arranging taxis etc.
The registration front desk are also super helpful and nice. I enjoyed talking to them.
The room we had had kingsize bed with view if the city 16th floor. The room has amazing technology. The lighting system was magnificent. The curtains are electronically controlled.
The toilet has the latest Washlet technology which opens and shuts the lid automatically and has a dryer.
The bathroom has a nice tub on one end and a nice shower on the other end of it.
I used the bathtub and took advantage if the bath salts the hotel provides. The faucet and spay wand are most convenient for the bathtub. It was the first kne that I have seen that has a trigger button on the spray wand so that you can rins when needed. It doesn’t just continuously spray water when it’s turned on.
The bed, comforter and pillows were soooooo comfortable. I slept like a rock.
The closets are very sleek and modern.
I had to do laundry and the hotel room had a nice cloth sack for me to carry our laundry to a facility only 1 and 1/2 block away.
