"Very basic small hotel room. Not much space to put carry on luggage. It would be nice to have at least a mini fridge since there are no stores close, restaurants are expensive so I could put a couple of groceries for next day travel. We had dinner in the restaurant since there is nothing else really close by. It was pretty good. The shower curtain and towels were worn out a bit. Loved watching the sheep outside the window and free coffee/tea in reception area. We didn’t want to pay $24 a person for breakfast but it looked pretty good."

"Hotel Skaftafell was a good stay for us mainly because of the location. It was the most convenient choice for being near our glacier hike the next morning, and it was also easy to drive back to after our Zodiac boat tour at Glacier Lagoon. For that part of the trip, the location was perfect. The included breakfast was really good and had a nice variety. We also had dinner at the attached restaurant the night before. It was pricey, but the food was delicious. The kids’ menu was not great, but the staff were very kind and let us come in to eat even though we arrived only about five minutes before the end of seating. The room itself was small, and the beds were just okay. There was nothing especially memorable about the room, but it worked fine for a short stay. There is also a gas station with a really good grill fairly close by, which was convenient. Overall, this hotel was a practical and helpful stop because of the location, breakfast, restaurant, and easy access to the glacier activities we had planned."

"Horrible. Tried to cancel well ahead of time as I was sick with Covid and unable to travel and was told no canceling, so they charged me for a room that was never used….i guess I should have just arrived and gotten everyone sick?"
