"Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We definitely felt a warm welcome when we arrived. We had a spacious room with two queen beds. The room was very clean. As was the bathroom. There was a welcome note with two pieces of candy from the room attendant, which I thought was a nice touch. The mattresses on both queen beds need replacement. Both had noticeable dips in them from usage. After about an hour in our room we noticed a few cockroaches. Since it was just a few, we didn’t think much about it. However as our stay progressed (we were there two nights) we found several more of them in our room. As for the bathroom, I liked that the sink was separate from the toilet and the shower and both areas were clean and well organized. We did notice that the water was coming through the shower head with more force than was comfortable. It felt like needles were being shot through our skin. Try as we did, we were unable to adjust the shower head. Also the glass shower door leaked leaving puddles on the floor. With that being said, this establishment has great potential. With just a few fixes this place would be great! "

"Very nice place to stay. Staff was very nice; the room was nicely done as far as looks and cleanliness. The shower tub had a lower entry which is great for older adults. Confrontable king size bed. Short walk to downtown Sutter Creek. Safe area for walking. No need to Uber for a ride. It has a gym and a bar. Although we did not check out the bar. "

"Hanford House is an inn located on Main Street (Old Highway 49) in Sutter Creek. There are a limited number of rooms on the First and Second floors (maybe six?). Not a bed-and-breakfast inn, but the Element restaurant is at the front of the structure. Breakfasts are not included in the lodging rate. We were given a $35 voucher to another cafe for the morning that the Element was closed. We stayed three nights. Our room was very quiet and we enjoyed our King bed. Shower and bath. There is no coffee machine in the room, but coffee is available in the morning in the lobby. Staff was very helpful and tidied up our room every morning. Expensive stay on weekends; a price reduction mid-week. Parking is limited and first come, first served."

"We were in Room 220. The door was ajar when we got there. The carpet was wet. The light by the door was very dim. I went to turn on the light by the bed and the nob to turn the switch was broken. The other lights in the room was for the bathroom sink and the toilet/tub area. I took the lamp from the bed area to the front desk and asked for another. There were none available. Maintenance came by about 10 minutes later with a lamp for the bedside and he noticed we did not have a desk lamp. He came back with another lamp. We could not figure out the TV and called maintenance to teach us; it was too complicated to do a second time. In the morning we took showers and could not turn off the water to the shower. We could reduce the water pressure, but it would not completely turn off. When we got out of the shower we noticed that there was no curtain on the window that looked out over the street (not a frosted window). The carpet was still wet in the morning and we found that they had cleaned the carpet the day before. When we left at 6:50 am, breakfast still was not available. The people at the front desk were nice, but the motel needs maintenance. The maintenance guy was very nice and helpful, but it was for things we should not have needed. The location was great, right off Hwy 50, close to restaurants. The internet was not working while we were there, and it was not a service problem, it was a hotel problem. "
