Nov 14, 2019They have services on Wednesdays so we could not tour there. Saw the outside only and it was crowded with people.

Nov 13, 2019If you decide to climb the steps up into the dome, do so early in the day while you are fresh. The views are worth it but the hike is a significant one. Also consider entering the basilica when you see that the line to get through security is noticably shorter than it had been. Hotel staff can often advise when the pontiff will be delivering a blessing.
