Good but pricey.

Hotel room was comfortable and the rest of the hotel was good. TV channels were limited and the only English one was intermittent. Free wifi was useful. Service was excellent and staff very attentive but not intrusive. Didn't expect to pay extra for a cooked breakfast at the high rates charged for the room though. Restaurant food was good quality if a little expensive but this was expected for St Moritz.

Tired but comfortable

Great location opposite the train station and 5min walk to the centre of St Moritz. Grand on the outside but very dated inside. Old bedroom furniture and tiny cramped bathroom with a shower curtain that sticks to you - not a pleasant experience! Service from the dining room staff was fantastic, the Food and Beverage Manager made my evening dining experience an experience to remember, his warm demeanour and great sense of humour is all too rare these days. At breakfast the next morning he found me and came over for a chat and to wish me a good day - the perfect gentleman. Overall a decent place to stay but definitely well overdue for an overhaul - for the money you can do better than La Margna.

Worth every penny

My wife and myself booked this hotel by a chance after looking for a good place to stay for a week skiing. We were only worried that it is too close to train station, but this turned to be an excellent location since most of busses stop there. It is one minute walk to ski bus taking you to Corvach - a really gray ski resort jus of St. Moritz. You can take train to one of the ski resorts, Diavoleza. Hotel staff welcomed us from the first till the last minute - they gave us all necessary infirmation and made all stay a real pleasure. We forgot to read about great deals for ski tickets and half-board and they fixed this after we arrived and booked in. The ski ticket - only 30SF a day a person ! - also prived free transportation on busses and train to ski area. Spa room in the hotel is top notch and their sauna allowed us to ski all days without a break, and no mussel pain - this never happened before. A shuttle van run by hotel every 30 mins was taking us to Corviglia ski resort - the main one in St Moritz. We had ski many resorts in Switzerland (Zermat, Saas Fee, Davos etc…), France, Italy and Austria, but this ski trip was simply the best - in large thanks to comfort and atmosphere in the hotel. The only shortcoming we found in the hotel, that chic of good Swiss white wines was very limited. And what they had, were too expensive and not of great quality - if this is approved, it will be just perfect place to stay. Will stay there again...

Sehr schön, alle sehr nett. Super Fondue kann man nur jedem empfehlen, ein muss in dem Hotel. Sehr gute Lage nicht weit vom Zentrum und Bahnhof. Werden sicherlich wieder in das Hotel gehen wenn wir in St. Moritz sind.

Very nice

The hotel front desk and employees were friendly, helpful and efficient. They were most helpful with collecting tickets to the White Turf event on my behalf when they took receipt and payment for them before my arrival without any issue. Much appreciated! The breakfast buffet was fantastic and convenient location to the train station. Definitely would stay here again.

Classic hotel with classic high service standards

One of the oldest buildings in St Moritz under excellent management. Close to the station and a 5 min walk from centre. Very welcoming, choice of restaurants, relaxing lounge and comfortable room. South facing rooms have view across the lake. Close proximity to railway station did not cause any problems. Clean but basic bathroom. Whole hotel due to be refurbished and hopefully this will not spoil the overall ambiance of this historic Swiss classic. All the staff took a personal interest in us and could not have been more helpful to ensure we had an enjoyable stay.

Great service and location

Everything about the hotel was very good. Good location right next to the train station, very friendly staff, fine shower and bath. At the price of over £200 a night it may seem expensive, but compared to others in St Moritz I would say it's the best value. Some things to look out for. First of all European / UK plug adaptors didn't fit although the hotel issue Swiss ones free of charge. Also there was no kettle or tea and coffee making facilities in the room which was a minor inconvenience. They are planning to turn the hotel in to a Boutique one by 2015 and I would say that this would be a shame as the hotel has a lot of character currently and I would imagine the prices will go up accordingly. Go now I would say

Outstanding Service, Comfortable Rooms!

You immediately feel at home in this well appointed hotel. The staff are knowledgeable, kind and attentive. The food in all the restaurants was outstanding serving consistently quality food from around the area... Yum! The rooms were comfortable and spacious with very soft linens. Bathroom tub was amazing with beautiful views from every window. Thank you Nina, Torge, Dejane, Angela, Christina, Mickalis, Mickey and all of the excellent staff. We will be back!!!

Classy Swiss hotel

This was the best hotel experience i've ever had. The staff greeted us like we were long lost family, and were the friendliest nicest hotel staff i've ever dealt with in any country. No item big or small was too much trouble or effort. We were personally & warmly greeted by the beautiful hotel manager, and were personally guided to our rooms while the porter delivered our bags. The hotel kindly ran a shuttle to the train station when we needed it, so we did not have to trek through the snow with our bags. This was especially appreciated as we were dudded by a cab driver in another ski town Zermatt the next day.

Wonderful Hotel - Exceeded expectation

My daughter and I stayed here for one night. The staff was excellent, the hotel was super nice, and I can't say enough good things about it. It's across the street from the train station, so if you are on foot and using the train (as we were), just couldn't be better. They checked us in early - no problem. Great room, super friendly, ate dinner in the "casual" of the two restaurants, was also very good with super friendly wait staff. Highly recommend this hotel - way better than where we stayed in Davos, at the same price. Saint Moritz is super hilly, obviously, but was only a ten minute walk uphill to the main shopping area ect. We weren't skiing, but did not seem to be all that close to the ski areas, if that's an issue for you.
