Loch Long Hotel

"The hotel was huge with many floors of stairs and doors. We had the small annex double bedroom. The room was recently decorated, and was tidy and clean. However, the room felt damp, only relying on a small electric heater. The water was very hot in the taps, but the shower didn't work and was freezing cold. The staff serving were helpful and friendly. The food on offer was good, and the fusion curry menu was the best in the UK i have had and having travelled back from a holiday in India."

"Nice breakfast, The property looks the same as it did 5 years ago and has lost that cosy feel. It needs a little TLC and it seems to have lost the ‘Scottish roots’ Staff are very polite but wouldn’t say friendly with almost a passive agressive attitude. "
Royal Marine Hotel

"The staff on reception was cold and unhelpful, didn't even show me to the room. The room was absolutely disgusting. There was a drawer full of very dirty socks that didn't belong to me. The floorboards were rotten. The carpet didn't fit the room and wasn't attached. The toilet didn't flush properly and when it did flush it made the room smell like poo so presumably there's a sewage leak under the floor. The shower didn't give hot water. The walls were mucky. There were marks on the walls and television screen that looked like fist impressions from a violent prior resident. All the electrical outlets were smashed up so there were exposed live wires throughout the room. The radiator didn't work. The door was broken and barely locked. There was a large spider living in the bath. The bathroom was unclean. The hotel boasts having a 24hr reception desk but the reception was always closed and the hotel unstaffed. The breakfast was just little boxes of cereal with fruit, and I didn't eat it given how disgusting the place was. Worst hotel I've ever seen."

" Although the promotional material said there were gluten free options, these were very limited. At breakfast, there was just gluten free toast, no cereal or porridge. Otherwise, breakfast was buffet style, and plenty of it. Evening meal was just ok.My portion of chicken was very, very small, but tasted ok. My side of vegetables didn't arrive, the waiter said I didn't need them, as I had some veg on my plate! Maybe there was some confusion somewhere? My husband's meal was fine. We heard lots of other people complaining. I found the dessert of apple crumble and custard inedible. The waiters tried to be helpful, but the service from the kitchen was appalling. It took us almost 2 hours. We would stay at the hotel again, but would not have an evening meal there."

"Bedroom was lovely, bathroom was very tired and needing tiles, flooring and door replaced, bar area was nice, but the high backed chairs needed a good clean. Dining room was faultless. Would stay again "

"Despite some negative reviews we found our room recently refurbished clean comfortable with the bonus of our own Sauna, Food was fresh and very nice Staff and Management very friendly and helpful which helped make a very nice stay"
