Best stay in South Haven. Comfortable beds, cozy rooms, friendly staff, happy hour where you meet the fellow guests and a delicious breakfast. Todd is a property favorite. We look forward to our next stay at Hotel Nichols.
Everything was perfect! The staff was the best ever!!! They were very welcoming and made sure we were very informed. The breakfast they made the next day was perfect!!
The room was clean and very cozy. It’s small but I loved it. Nick is the manager and I only met him but he was super nice and accommodating. He also makes an exquisite breakfast made to order every morning! There is also an evening reception every night with wine, beer and charcuterie. The location can’t be beat as well!!
Historic Hotel Nichols was a great experience for our small family. Nick (manager) was fantastic. If you are staying in town, you won't regret staying here. Location is excellent, walkable to all shops/restaurants.

Love the location, hospitality and uniqueness of this historic hotel located downtown and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A welcome haven (in South Haven) from status quo highway hotels.
We really enjoyed this historic older building built in 1884 near the black river and close to Lake Michigan. Our room was small but comfortable; quiet at night and in the morning. We had a nice view of the water. Breakfast was phenomenal with many choices like a home-cooked meal. The only hitch was the first night where we didn’t know how to control the room’s radiator heat and it got too warm. The staff was very friendly and helpful offering suggestions on things to do in the area. We were able to do some fun trail walks seeing the beautiful fall colors and many nice little shops in town. We definitely would do it again.
The staff were knowledgeable of the area, accommodating, and very friendly! This was our first stay (2 nights) and we were assigned to room 4. The bathroom/shower was small for us. This is the only reason I gave 4 stars for the facility. We would definitely stay again but request a room with larger bathroom/shower. The breakfast is free with stay and has great order from menu options. The location is also very convenient.
Made to order breakfast; good tap beer and wine; quaint; card/board games available. Very charming. I’m not a fan of the sink outside the bathroom, but in the olden days, bedrooms didn’t have attached bathrooms. There’s only so much that can be done with a small space in an historic building. Brendan was awesome.
This feels like you are back in time ,, good and bad . The front desk was very nice.
Beds are comfortable but if at all claustrophobic,, this is not for you ..
Very walkable spot for downtown and the harbor area. Todd was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was accommodated and everything was running smoothly! He is outstanding and could not be more helpful and welcoming!
Made to order breakfast was delicious. Happy hour drinks and snacks were great.
Only downside was our bathroom/shower situation was very tiny and tight and lots of street noise at night. However, if we could get a different room we would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Todd!
Small accommodations, but clean! Great location, easy access to beach and lots of dinner and evening entertainment options.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful!
Made to order breakfast was AMAZING!!
Enjoyed our short stay but definitely recommend and plan to stay again if in the area!!
Thanks to Todd, Nick and our sweet breakfast waiter who’s name we never got!!

Fantastic Breakfast
Stay was decent. The biggest perk was the included menu breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and a highlight. Very unique hotel but could use some updates. Very clean. We had a street side room. The outside nightlife was loud
Staff was excellent. "Todd" was great...treated us extremely well and was observed treating other staff with respect. Great representative of the facility.
Perfect place to stay to explore South Haven and surrounding areas. We enjoyed conversations with staff and other guests during complimentary evening happy hour and fresh made hot breakfast. The staff was first class. We will go back and stay again!!
