Le Meridien Lav, Split

10/10 Excellent

"We can highly recommend the Le Meridian hotel outside Split on the beach. Be aware that it is a good 20+ minute ride out of town. That being the case, don't get into a cab unless you negotiate in advance the price of the trip. We were conned into a cab ride from the marina and the driver tried to charge us 75 Euros to get to the hotel. We were saved by the terrific hotel doorman, Mike, who seems to know everyone and was very helpful in fending off this cab driver. We eventually found a wonderful cab/uber driver who was fare and efficient. We used him for all our travel after that. I will list his contact at the end of this review. The hotel staff was very helpful and polite. We cannot say enough about everyone who worked there. We also liked the restaurants at the hotel - good food and very well run and managed. The only objection we had was access to the beach which was through the reception area and the strange way they monitor the beach and the beach towels. They do not want people traipsing through the lobby of the hotel in bathing suits, but it is hard to dodge the reception area because of the location of the elevators to the pool and beach area. "High lights: beach, pool access was terrific and not ness the norm considering other properties on Brac in both Suptar and Bol that I saw. Love the spacious room. Mostly staff were kind and lovely toward us. Think property is comprised mainly of domestic tourists w a few international. Loved being around local families. There were abundant food options in cafe which was great as the island has small towns which are not that walkable so hotel provides food well. Excellent massage therapist and lovely wellness space. Lovely camp feeling grounds w tremendous beach access all along. Super fast laundry service. Helpful to get a rental car. People on Brac island were super friendly. Low lights: ask in advance about rules for shuttle as that was not an option based on provided flyer (fine print not on flyer ….soooo paid top euros for private car ) to go to the other hotel they own for a lovely higher end type dinner (which was excellent and totally worth the disappointment of not being able to take the advertised free shuttle -40 euros). Staff ended up being kind and helpful but initially 2 staff made somewhat negative comments to me and my friend because we both booked on Expedia. 2 rooms booked but made to feel a bit like tight wods (not exactly welcoming wen u fly 16 hrs and grab a ferry to get there). No regrets despite hip-cups on this non touristy quiet island"

"Rooms are decent size - small fridge in room - would have expected a couple of bottles of water to be initially provided. Staff helpful and polite. Breakfast was very average - the hot selection was poor - although you could request a cooked omelette which was ok. Only one coffee machine that’s wasn’t working first day. Roof top pool is quite small - but was very quiet when we stayed - so wasn’t an issue… last day it was shut for maintenance (wasn’t informed when booked) Location good - direct access to small beach - although 25euros per subbed is a total rip-off - so didn’t use. A couple of supermarkets local to the hotel, along with a few restaurants. The Road outside hotel very busy!"

"Incredible experience! Beautiful place, lovely and very helpful staff. Perfect place to stay with children or adults. Close to everything you could need, especially the beach. More things than you could imagine for kids to do. The food was exceptional and generous. Would come back here in a heartbeat!"
