I found this place as I was looking for a central location not too far from Husavik or Myvatn after spending a night in Akureyri. We spent 2 nights at this farm house and absolutely loved it. The host family was unbelievably sweet and have maintained the property in perfect shape. We saw the northern lights from the open air hot tub. Great breakfasy, spacious acco and close to all the sightseeing nearby. Definitely 5 stars!

Absolutely delightful farmhouse bed and breakfast. Unnar (the owner) is kind and gracious. Delicious breakfast. I wish we had booked for more time.

5 star review, but... It turns out that this hotel is still being built. When we got there, the hotel was not built yet, only the walls. The manager came out to greet us right away and apologized. Hotel Laxa is not only beautiful (kudos to the designer who make you feel like you are part of the volcanic landscape), its location serves as a great jumping off point for a day of taking in the sights around Myvatn. We arrived from Eglissadir, after stopping at the Mytvan Nature Baths on our way into town. After a fantastic breakfast of eggs, bacon, waffles and a buffet of fresh fruits and vegetables, we spent the next 6 hours taking in all that Myvatn had to offer. I would definitely return...

The location, the guesthouse, the shop, the restaurant, the proximity to the baths and hiking were perfect and perfectly suited to city folk looking for awesome rustic experience m

Very nice and comfortable cabin. It had all the amenities as advertised. We were able to cook to save some money and its location was awesome.

Great location with view. Nice, clean, and fully equipped cottage. It was a good stay for our family of four with two kids aged 10 and 12.

We ended up with a bigger apartment and saw aurora that night

Absolutely adorable accommodations. Very efficient use of space and you're right on the lake. There's a grocery store about 7 minutes away if you need anything as well as a wine/beer store. Checkin was easy and everyone we interacted with from the staff was very kind and helpful. Awesome views and peaceful place to rest

Comfortable beds, clean kitchen & great location

Friendly staff. Clean accommodations.
