This was my second time in Sarapiqui and rather than spending only two days hopping from place to place, our family decided to spend a week in one place to really learn and enjoy the area. La Quinta was highly recommended, so we gave it a try. We’re so glad we did. As a nature lover, there’s so much to explore just by spending time on the grounds.
I was welcomed to La Quinta by four toucans, regularly saw parrots, honeycreepers, scarlet tanagers, and a mating pair of scarlet macaws, and so many other birds. In the frog area, I regularly spotted the beautiful red eyed tree frogs and many others. Each day I visited the ponds where a caiman is sunning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the food was good, and the accommodations are very inviting. Nice pool, lots of sitting areas, a bar, nature trails, a nice walk to an old farm.
The place has an artsy vibe, a bit off beat, in a nice way. We felt very at home. We used La Quinta as a jumping off point to take a wonderful chocolate tour, evening nature hike in Tirimbina Nature Preserve, a bird walk there on another day, a boat tour along the Sarapiqui River, a canopy tour to the Braulio Carillo National Park, but we barely scratched the surface of all we could have done. We didn’t rent a car and were not on a tour, so they arranged a taxi each time. Next time, I would rent a car.
This place is a diamond in the rough and should not be missed!
