Front desk was very nice for check in, offered area tips. Santa Cruz is a college town ( who knew, not us anyway). Walls seemed really thin & upstairs folks were very noisy. Lots of homeless too. Breakfast was kind of slim compared to other free breakfasts on our trip. Would skip another stay in Santa Cruz completely, if we were to come this way again.

Very nice person working. Clean. Got the job done. There was a small window that had no curtain and we had light all night shining through on our faces. Besides that, very decent motel.

The front desk attendant seems much improved from previous comments and reviews. Work crews were using the hotel, so they were up early prepping their trucks. There was a random guy knocking at a door for someone who wasn't home. It gave the hotel a feeling that this was not the safest place. The boardwalk is a drive away, but there is a nice diner a few doors down with reasonable prices. The price is a little higher than you'd expect to pay for a place like this. The rooms are large and sparingly appointed. There is a damp smell and feel to the room, but it is clean. Parking gets full. Several cars had to park against the alley wall. If I were to stay in Santa Cruz again, I'd choose a place closer to the boardwalk.

The beds were hard and on metal frames, there were gnats constantly in the room even with the door and window closed, the A/C was on the other side of the room near the bathroom so it was inconsistent with the temperature when someone was in the shower. Parking was Okay, and the conjoined room was occupied by other guests and you could hear their conversation through the conjoined door.

The room was very clean and attractive. The location of the property is seedy. Too many homeless up front by the street. The property is old and needs to be updated. No division between other properties and this one. Unattractive environment.
