"DO NOT pay attention to the negative reviews. I have visited Italy every summer my entire life. I’m ashamed to admit, I’ve never been to Castel Gandolfo. However, this hotel made the trip PERFECT. 4 meters from the center (where the palace is located) you are at this hotel. Talking to tight, make sure you’re always in a small car if you’re not taking the train, or bus. Even if you are staying in Rome, this is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Eternal City. Try to book the room with the Lakeview. It’s breathtaking. The staff was extremely helpful, the Señora Bella (may be a manager, or owner) realized I spoke Italian and was directing my every time. She pointed me in the right direction every time. She scolded me when I tried to drive over to the Piazza, because it’s only 4 m away. She set up a reservation for me at a restaurant called Sur Copanna. It was absolutely amazing. She is so awesome. Love her. The rest of the staff were amazing as well. You can’t go wrong staying here, don’t pay attention to the negative reviews. You’re not going to get better accommodations in this area."

"This was my second stay after two years and they are making beautiful updates and improvements all over the property. The breakfast is still great with a huge selection of Italian and international style options. The 5th floor dining area has a large terrace with commandind views of one if the best cities in the world. The gym and outdoor pool offer all great ways to stay in shape and many supermarkets and vaious stores are within a short walking distance. I did not get the chance for playing billiards but hope to do so when I return."

"The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the town square with a few souvenir shops, and many restaurants. The papal summer residence is also a few minutes away, It’s an interesting site to see. Breakfast on a patio overlooking the lake was lovely except when a garbage truck came by and destroyed the peaceful ambiance. I wish the breakfast included more healthy items. It was mostly sweets although the staff is happy to bring out yogurt or eggs from the kitchen. Our room was simple but comfortable. It was great to have a little balcony overlooking the lake."

Overall the stay was nice if you dont mind being away from the busy aspect of the city. The train is nearby...a 5 minute walk if you are good with metro travel....although the tiburtini station can be confusing....."
