I go back to this place everytime I go through San Jose. Its the very best! Can walk easily anywhere for dining, food, shopping, arts, museums, parks etc! Love La Gauria Inn and Suites!!!

Only stayed one night, but the staff were so welcoming and kind. The location is great for walking around. A park near by and lots of restaurants.

My second time at this property. It was a very enjoyable experience. Staff is very nice & helpful. Room was clean & loved the balcony. One snag was some confusion w the check in process. I used hotels.com and the reservation wasnt right. However, it was promptly fixed by the staff. Pura vida!

The hotel is very convenient for airport. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the cleanest and, although I checked for bed bugs before sleeping, I saw bed bug when I woke and then also crawling on my bag…. Yuck! It’s difficult to feel good about the stay after seeing bed bug.

We had a one night stay at this property ahead of an early morning flight. The hotel had everything we needed - comfy beds, air con and fans. It was a simple 20 minute walk to the Malls. They arranged a complimentary transfer to airport at 4am. And we were able to grab some croissants and fruit on our way out. The only issue was the thin walls as we had a noisy group of men in the next room that were partying until early hours of morning so we struggled to sleep. This was just unlucky and not the fault of the hotel, but maybe introducing staff patrols late at night to ensure the noise levels are not antisocial would prevent this.

It was a short taxi ride from the airport paid by the hotel. The staff was very friendly. There were many choices for breakfast. There were many birds singing in the morning

For what I paid I expected more from the property. It is very tired looking, that desperately needs some TLC. I also expected to have my taxi paid to the airport as it was advised in the advertisement. Will not stay again

For the price and from other reviews i expected better. The place is tired, with many things broken and worn. The surrounding area was noisy at night, making sleep difficult. The check in guy seemed irritated to help us. Shuttle is very inconvenient and we ended up paying for a taxi. ($10) We left early so we did not have breakfast. I would not return.

Dear Guest: The real problem from your standpoint seems to be the price, because we checked and didn't find anything broken. I suppose this is why your review is not specific. I talked to you early morning and you didn't mention anything about it either.The price is now higher than usual because the dollar lost almost 20% value against the local currency. This happened in just three months and our expenses have to be paid in local currency. Also note this was not a typical night. We had two earthquakes and winds blowing at 80-100 KMh. This puts all the structure under a bit a stress and may have caused some undesired noises.No one is irritated. My apologies if we gave the wrong impression due to a lot of work in the high season. The hotel is great you are close to everything around the area to walk around and also they provide free shuttle service to get you to the airport. Totally recommend this hotel!

It’s actually better in person! They may need updated photos. The pool area has a cool covered outdoor living space to enjoy rain or shine. The exterior of the building is painted a light yellow and green and looks nice. Front desk/all staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good, I liked that they offer it until 10 am. We loved the town square, church, and shopping and dining area that makes this town very walkable. I didn’t need to come to Costa Rica to see a mall but my teenage kids loved it. It’s within a longer walking distance, is 5 stories high, had a food court, etc. Would not hesitate to stay again!

This was the perfect stay really close to the airport our last night. Enjoyed a walk around the plaza then a refreshing dip in the pool and they coordinated our airport transport for 3am. Seemed like a quick minute and we we’re getting out boarding passes
