Had all the amenities anyone needs. The grounds and areas were meticulously cared for and ckean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Would recommend to anyone.

The hotel staff and service was very nice, clean, quiet, professional and friendly. The front desk staff was very helpful, kind, informative and accommodating. The pool area was nice and the food selection was great. The one thing I did notice that I didn't absolutely love was the "old carpet" smell that was in the hallways. Other than that, everything was nice and clean.

The property is surrounded by beautiful gardens and it is very clean and close to different places in San José. It is easy to get a cab and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is has variety of choices and especially loved the fresh fruit, the hot dishes can be better especially the pancakes (more like cookies with lack of flavor) The dining is limited but have a variety of dishes, the pasta dishes are very good, however they overcooked the meat and fish dishes. Prices are reasonable.

Property is ok and breakfast is very good. It’s a plus to have a free ride to the airport. I didn’t have upgrade room or welcome drink like other Barcelo hotels.

This is my four time in a Barcelo hotel always happy with my decision but at this time Barcelo San Jose didn’t fill my expectations. Even though, the hotel is nice and the breakfast was very good the transportation for airport is free that is very convenient. I didn’t receive any special treatment as VIP and my room had a leak when we used the shower.

Overall the stay was fine. Except the day before check out my key card kept getting turned off and couldn’t access the premium food area on 606 when coming down for the second time to get my card turned on the male front desk man around 7pm lecture me about why my card would be off … and cutting me off when trying to tell him that it was my second time getting my card cut back on and it was never around my phone to be the reason it wasn’t working …. The food also seemed to be reused the next day for breakfast but over all the stay was fine /

The hotel was really good. Really easy to park, nice restaurant with good staff. Room was very spacious and clean. Location wasn’t too far from the city center. Gym was ok. I would highly recommend staying there.

San Jose, the city comes with heavy traffic congestion this time of year. Many living quarters in the city are in squalor and gated and barred. The plush and luxurious properties such as Barcelo are wonderful, but the contrast is stark. The culture and natural habitat is amazing. Such diversity in climate, topography, and wildlife.

In Expedia the hotel was advertised with free breakfast and shuttle service, however no one at the hotel was responsive when we tried to arrange shuttle service from the airport, therefore we ended up paying for taxi. We were also not provided the free breakfast as the staff refused to believe or accept that it was in our package as per the Expedia booking. We were on our honeymoon and got the least welcoming experience from the reception. Will not be back.
