I have passed by this numerous times going to and from Dallas to Houston. Quick stop free you just have to sign a book!

The Prairie Branch Loop trail goes right along the water on one side of the loop. This park is always full of bikers and as far as I can tell this is the only stretch of trail restricted to hikers, making it quieter and better for spotting wildlife than some of the more heavily traveled trails. Be aware that there are alligators in the park, so be careful if approaching the water's edge along the trail.
