The Art Bank

"We really enjoyed our stay in the Art Bank, Mandy made us feel very welcome, and her brilliant breakfasts set us up for the day. The Art Bank is very well named, we loved the range of art work on display, and the artistically themed rooms. We stayed in the Monet room, which was comfortable and peaceful. We didn't mind the shared bathroom, we never had any issues sharing it with the other guest, and even managed a relaxing bath. We appreciated all the little touches, and having access to a fridge and microwave. We would be very happy to stay here again, and we may invite some friends to join us next time."

"Very interesting old building that was used for different purposes before becomming a hotel. Appears to be family owned and run. Owners are very nice and helpful. All staff members were pleasant and gracious. Excellent restaurant, with many tasty choices for dinner and breakfast. Nice bar. Friendly house dog that loves to greet the guests. Convenient location within Castle Douglas. Lots of free parking."

"Lovely B&B in a beautiful village known for bookstores. Nicole and Malcolm were so kind and welcoming, we truly enjoyed our weekend there! They went above and beyond making sure we were comfortable, gave us lots of local info, and we enjoyed great conversations with them."

"We really enjoyed our short stay. Hotel sits in a large open area surrounded by a loch and golf course (although it could have been better signposted from the main road!). Room was very comfortable and spacious with a view over the golf club. Nice to have a bath and a shower. Leisure facilities were excellent. Lovely pool and jacuzzi heated to a good temperature (maybe too warm for serious swimmers!). Sauna and small gym. We had a nice dinner with good menu choice. Good was well presented and served promptly. Check-in and check-out experience could have been slightly better. At check-in we had to queue then I struggled to hear or understand the member of staff. At check-out I would have liked a bit more interaction. But minor negatives. Overall I liked the hotel and would have no hesitation about recommending. Hopefully we will return soon."
