The hotel is very nice, with lovely rooms and beautiful surroundings. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, although they often had to juggle multiple roles at once, which sometimes made them difficult to find. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay, and if I return to Castle Douglas, I would happily stay here again.

Lovely old hotel with lots of character, extremely peaceful & with beautiful views. Staff great, friendly & knowledgeable. Tasty & plentiful breakfast cooked to order. Nice evening meal on the Friday night. Booked a double room but we were upgraded to a gorgeous suite without our knowledge which was a fantastic surprise! Lovely Easter break & would definitely stay again.

A hotel with tonnes of potential (one to watch)

The food (home made curry) and all the staff were great. The hotel needs some maintenance and a little more of a clean in some areas (cob webs in corners).
