I recently stayed at the Accra Beach Hotel in Barbados, and while there were some positive aspects of the experience, there were also areas that need improvement.
What I liked:
• The location is excellent — convenient and right by the beach.
• The pool and the beach area were both beautiful and relaxing.
What needs improvement:
• The rooms are in need of updates. I had to switch rooms after spending two nights without air conditioning, which was frustrating.
• The TV in the room was far too small for the size of the space.
• The nightly rates felt overpriced, especially considering the lack of entertainment and amenities.
• Breakfast was disappointing; $30 USD per person for a very limited buffet selection did not feel like good value.
• I also had an unpleasant encounter with a security guard when I brought outside food to enjoy by the pool. There were no signs indicating that outside food wasn’t allowed, yet I was rudely told it was “disrespectful” and asked to put it away. For the amount I paid — over $2,000 for two rooms — this felt unnecessarily harsh.
Overall, while I enjoyed the pool, beach, and location, I left feeling that the experience did not justify the high price point. A bit more attention to customer service, amenities, and room maintenance would make a big difference.
