Clean room, beautiful resort, friendly staff, getting a lounge at the pool was an issue, room service was really slow at times, and the salespeople trying to get you to buy privilege services were a little much, but I have experienced that with other resorts in Punta Cana.

Room was good, a little dated but we expected that. The various foods available are excellent. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Amenities are great with the availability of two pools or the beach. Housekeeping was very inconsistent as was great for about 8 days, leaving the right amount of towels, stocked fridge and clean room. It went quickly downhill for the last 4 days like leaving only one fresh towel for the whole room, an almost empty fridge other than water and not cleaning any garbage or ashtrays.

Staff was amazing, amenities were very clean, but our room was very rubdown compared to others in our group. Beach was lackluster due to winter seaweed everywhere. Food was 2/5 stars at most places. However the Italian Restaurant, Thalassa & Steakhouse were 4/5 stars for our group of 12. So much more to do on the family side of the resort. The entrance and lobby on the adult side did not feel special or all inclusive or make you exited. The family side entrance & lobby was gorgeous & impactful. Lots lots of selling on the beach so bring a book to not be bothered. We did 3 excursions and loved it all, but hands down La Hacienda was the best experience & pricing- even their picture package was awesome. All in all it was a great experience but the amazing staff are what make this place!

Lots of shade on the beach. Empty Chairs were hard to find.

The staff was nice and very friendly. The food needs much improvement. We had a pool room, so we liked to sit around our pool and just have a drink or two. There were no liquor in your fridge. We asked for ice for the room at the front desk and never got any. We ended up having to take our ice bucket to a bar, tip the bartender to get ice. The lady cleaning our room was friendly and nice. We asked her for extra Coke Zero but she could only give us what she could. So for a couple of days we got two, but most of the time we got one and some time none. We also had a day with no water, so we couldn’t even brush our teeth. There were signs saying don’t drink the tap water. When I was asked by others, if we would ever return, I am sorry to say, but no.

I am here now and I love the adult side! The ambiance is great.. there was a gentleman playing sax and a female playing violin.. different nights but each an 1.5 hrs long during dinner.. they were enchanting.. the adult side is so laid back and relaxing...quiet atmosphere.. the adult pool closest to the lobby is packed. By the time i walked to breakfast at 715, 90% all the chairs were taken. They do a lot of activities during the day there and that bar was pretty good.. the housekeeper was great. She snuck in and left my husband extra beers in the frig, would empty the garbage regularly throughout the day, turn down service plus she had flowers decorating the room for me!! I had a great nap in the patio in my hammock.. had to ask to have them set it up but the day ut rained in the afternoon it was a perfect way to nap before returning to the beach! Yes there is seaweed.. but the men are out there at 630 ( i know cause I was there to watch the sunrise) cleaning everything up and then after truck came to haul it away.. then the snuck in right after lunch to do it again.. so when you walk in the water tjere is about 3 feet wide you walk through , then you're good.. I'll take that over snow any day! - bring a cup or buy 1 there! The provided cups are regular size but the will fill up your 24 Oz cup also so it limited the times back and kept it much colder.. the drinks melted quick in the sum! I can't wait to come back..

Quiet room, blackout curtains were awesome, great and easy service. Our concierge help us out multiple times with orientation and our a la carte suppers.lots a tables available for breakfast and lunch, nice and quiet on the adult side. Also had lots of options for chairs at the beach shade or sun, there was sea weed at the beach but we were expecting it. Overall great quiet relax vacation.

Everything was PHENOMENAL except for the card reader on our door. It locked us out once per day - 7 of the 8 days we were there. This was beyond frustrating by day 4, but it seems perhaps the door is a lemon as they weren’t able to fix it - though they definitely did try! Otherwise - we had an incredible experience. Staff, service, pools, beach, and drinks were all flawless!!

COCKROACHES. MISMANAGEMENT. MANIPULATED REVIEWS. When we arrived at the resort, shortly after settling in, we found cockroaches in our room. We immediately complained and were moved another room. Unfortunately, the problem followed us, and this time we found cockroaches in the shower. After multiple ignored complaints, we went to the main office to speak with a manager. We were told he would help us, but he never showed up. Only after three nights of repeated complaints we were finally moved into the suite that we had originally booked and paid for to begin with! Management showed zero urgency or accountability. Once they had our money, they simply did not care. To make matters worse, a staff member later approached us and asked if we were enjoying our stay and requested a review. After scanning a QR code, she took my phone and selected FIVE STAR ratings across all categories without my permission, then encouraged me to submit the review. We also spoke with other guests who confirmed they had cockroaches in their rooms as well. This hotel appears far more focused on manipulating reviews and making money than giving people the experience they paid for.

The Catalonia Royal Bavaro is a beautiful resort with lots of restaurants and amenities. I chose a privileged room for the added perks, but aside from the closer distance to the beach, we didn’t take advantage of any of the perks (discounts on spa/dinners). The room itself was large and spacious, but not well lit. The location may have been shaded, but the lighting inside was very dim. The beach was full of pretty palm trees which provided a lot of shade, but there was quite a bit of seaweed along the shore. We explored the family resort for more dining options and the beach/pool. The family buffet had excellent variety for dinner. Tao Cat and Bloved had tasty options for meals, but Sorrento’s pizza was not very flavorful. The NYE buffet at Thalassa had delicious variety as well. The employees including bellhops, servers, and security personnel were welcoming, friendly, and attentive! They care about providing the best service. We requested late check out which was included in our reservation based on availability. We asked the night before and were told to check the day of check out. We then called the morning of check out and were asked to come to the lobby which was a bit of a walk from our room. When we arrived, we were told we could not check out an hour late. We understand limited availability especially around the holidays, but were frustrated that we weren’t simply told “no” when we called. Aside from front desk difficulties, we had a wonderful stay!

So we were here for 5 days me and my 2 friends stayed in 2 rooms here. After the first day one of the rooms air conditioner was stuck on freezing and there was no way to fix it, then there was no hot water for the remainder of the stay, this resulted in me being sick on my second to last and last day. Most of the food was not good/cold. Most of the staff were unhelpful and rude. At the restaurants my friends asked for water multiple times and the wait staff never brought anything. They were also overall just unfriendly with the exception of the staff in the lobby/front desk. Also this was advertised as an adults only resort however that isn’t entirely true there is a connected adults only part of the resort so we were still bumping into children which is what we tried to avoid by booking an adult only. They had a lot of on resort events but most of the ones we tried to go to didn’t happen. (Mainly the ones during the day) We also ran into the problem where certain vendors would run out of stuff for example the coffee shop would be out of key ingredients. There were 2 restaurants that were really good and the resort itself was beautiful. The pools were nice and there was enough places to swim in the ocean, with complementary Kayaking, Windsurfing, and Paddleboarding. The nightclub was cool a couple hours into it being opened and the coffee shop was pretty good. There were plenty of bars and overall the drinks were really good and the Bartenders were able to make most drinks.

food quality was not very good and the rooms need maintained better. we had a private pool and the water was ice cold. the toilets, bathtub, air conditioning, and resort website barely worked. the liquor choices are ok, you have to pay extra for middle-line stuff like jack daniels. you will constantly be harassed on the beach to buy something and we saw someone steal a pair of airpods from someone staying at the resort (was not a resort worker). the actual resort workers are extremely friendly and do their best to help you have a good time. this was not what my fiancé and i expected, we were in cancun 6mo ago and it was better and cheaper. the resort itself is beautiful but some of the amenities and food/alcohol choices need to be updated.

The staff was amazing! Food was pretty good specially the dinners. Watch out for the tour sellers on the beach once you give them your money and you want to change something its not the easiest thing to do on the other hand they are much cheaper than the guys in the hotel for scuba diving hotel asked for $220 and the beach people did it for $150. Everything outside the resort seems very scratchy but all the people were nice and everybody was safe. Will definitely go back

First thing off the plane I was rob of 150 by being told it was for excursions for me and my wife then lied that the guy that grab our bags for amrstar group would get us to our resort only to give him 35 bucks and he dropped us off at end of airport were I was charged 35 to be taken to the resort. Then after getting there and explaining to my reap he told me he would get my money back the next morning only to be tricked into doing a time share tour with the other place with them and still only received 100 of my money and a coupon book all in all please take you'll time and don't trust these people we go there to enjoy what little time we have and spend our money on what we want to do not to be took advantage of. I won't be returning back there anymore

The property is beautiful, but if you are looking for a beach front resort- this isn’t it. The beach is tiny and full of seaweed and debris. Plus, there’s never enough lawn chairs for the guests. There is very little entertainment besides yoga, swim aerobics and maybe a singer in the evening. We only got to try 3 restaurants because all the other ones were booked our entire stay. Room service food is horrible. There are no places to get snacks except a food truck with limited hours. Some of the staff were very nice but half were rude. There’s never a vacation vibe going around the pool with upbeat music. It’s silent most of the time. Food is mid in the restaurants- wine is extra. Drinks were mid too. They also were not accommodating at all when our flight was canceled and we had to push our arrival back a day. They said there was no manager on duty until Monday and the policy was to cancel our entire trip to be a no show. Thankfully Expedia stepped in on that one.
