"We really loved La Zebra. The staff were amazing, restaurants very good too. Our room was comfortable, clean and well stocked with a view of the gulf. The pool was a disappointment being located on an upstairs level with few loungers, and sadly we were inundated with sargassum so swimming off the beach was disgusting. "
"My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Casa Malca. While the property may lack some of the amenities of other hotels on Tulum Beach Rd., Casa Malca features artworks from the renowned collector Lio Malca’s personal collection in the hotel and around the grounds, so it’s a must for art enthusiasts. Additionally, the staff are all extraordinary, addressing us by name and attending to every detail of our stay."
"If you're looking for serenity, beauty and excellent service, this is the place to be. A beautiful spot, gorgeous rooms and friendly service. I highly recommend this gem... Umi is a vibe."
"Our six night stay here was a nice one overall, but there are many things you should be aware of before booking. Our “garden” room was surrounded by dense foliage that was beautiful, BUT THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING in the “garden” rooms - more like huts with a toilet, shower, and bed - that is all. There isn’t even a ceiling fan. Beware of the mosquitos. The other big issue was the running water (which we obviously never put in our mouth) had an extremely odd smell - not sulfur like untreated well water - but something else entirely that I couldn’t figure out. I realize that these garden rooms do not cost as much (as I was looking for a bargain), but with 85 degree temps, 89% humidity and a dew point hovering everyday around 73 you would be amiss not to think you need a little AC. The staff were always pleasant (don’t show up after 10pm- because you won’t find anyone at the front desk. The pool was small, but well maintained. The outdoor sunning beds were nice. The morning breakfasts were nice with fruit, bread, and eggs from the chickens they have on property:). "
"Very disappointing stay
I stayed at Casa Gitano after booking through Expedia. Our room had a serious bug problem with numerous insects inside. The bugs were everywhere on our clothes.
The sink in our room was clogged, and staff had to come fix it. Shortly after, the hot water stopped working, and we were left having to use cold water.
The pool was extremely dirty with sand and debris floating on the surface, and we were told it would take several days to clean, which they should have taken measures for before guests arrived.
The experience was extremely disappointing."
"My stay at Shibari was wonderful! Staff were very professional, attentive & courteous. Check-in process was simple. They were able to check me in early. The room floor seemed like it wasn’t cleaned that well but the room and view was so beautiful it took the focus away from it. The cenote and restaurant area were amazing. Food taste amazing, a bit overpriced, but the taste, service & staff compensated for it. The fitness center can use some attention. "
"Ocean front room was perfection! Watching the sun rise over the ocean from bed, having breakfast served on the patio while watching the waves, listening to the sounds of the surf while drifting off to sleep all made the trip magical! All the staff were lovely, food and drinks were delicious and perfect location on the beach! Highly recommend for anyone looking to relax."
"Lovely, except for the insufferable noise from the beach club next door during the day. The rooms were spacious and clean. The air conditioning was great. There were these really cool, large swings on our balcony. Ample drinking water was provided in the room. The staff was very sweet and kind. It is unclear to me how anybody could relax and enjoy the room or swing or the sound of the waves with stadium-level bass booming from 11 AM till 7 PM. People did not appear to be partying or dancing during these hours, in fact, that was hardly anyone around. The hotel is a very close to some of the finest restaurants in Tulum, which is why I selected this part of the beach strip. With the exception of weekend nights, the music that was played in the hotel, and in the hotel bar and restaurant was absolutely charming, but you could barely hear it because of the booming from next-door.
