If it's your first time traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic, you'll notice a few more restrictions and rules in place. Take note of these tips and make your journey to Points East a smooth one:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in a flight. Also check if there are any requirements you'll need to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be required to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Travelers who refuse to wear a face mask may be fined and denied boarding.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, place your pass on the scanner and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, like your wallet and phone, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Placing it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to handle and inspect your belongings.

• Air Canada - this airline is known for conducting passenger temperature checks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• PAL Airlines - this airline is known for cleaning with disinfectant and providing passenger masks.
• WestJet - this airline is known for cleaning with disinfectant and electrostatic cleaning.
