The coolest "bridge" I have ever "driven" across! Drive aboard and take flight over the River Usk in this 110 year old engineering marvel. Only six of these historic bridges remain in operation, and the Newport Bridge is the longest with a 196m span (645ft). A modern highway bridge passes nearby, so these days the bridge operates as a novelty. Show up on either side, and the operator will come pick you up! You can also climb the steps and walk across the 54m (180ft) high catwalk.

Merchant Navy Memorial, Mariners Green A memorial to the merchant navy was erected on Mariners Green in 1994. The bronze sculpture was produced by artist Sebastian Boyesen during his year as town sculptor (1993- 1994). The memorial is a classical figurative bronze that represents the spirit of the merchant seaman, that sits on a plinth. The hotel is well placed for the station and shopping, breakfast was very nice. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly and the room i had was perfect for the weekend. I would certainly stay again. The room was also reasonably priced compared to others ive stayed in. A good choice 👌
