There was a bushfire near the property and the road was blocked til 9:30pm.
I was contacted by the receptionist around 5 and asking when would we be checking in. She told me there was a road blocked due to bushfire but it would be ok by the time I get there.
She took down my credit card info and ended the call.
And by the time I got to the place, it was still blocked. As a tourist, who travelling with elderlys and a toddler, it was very stressful situation. I called the after hour number and I was told there was nothing they could do, as they didn’t know what I could do or how could I get to the place, nor could they guarantee I would get refund if I stayed somewhere else instead. There was no sympathy from the receptionist at all and I was told they could not help me.
I could only get in around 9;30 and we left in the early morning.
It was a very stressful and terrible exp.
I understood no one could predict bushfire, but it could have been handled a lot better.
The lady who took down my credit card info could have advised what I could do if the road still blocked.
The lady who I called after hour could have been more helpful and sympathetic, instead of just telling me it was not their problem.
