The property although in a beautiful setting and having friendly staff was run down and had stained mossie nets around the bed. One night there where holes in the sheets and there were stains in the bath and sink. The air conditioning didn’t work well at all. The food was good and they had a free shuttle service into Ubud a couple of times a day which was nice.

The service is excellent. they help with anything you need. The staff is also very warm and happy to share their culture and their location with us. The breakfast is free looking out over a beautiful garden. At night, I listened to a beautiful water fountain. In the morning, I heard the sounds of birds. The kinds of birds that you only here in places like this.

Alam Puri is a beautiful space hidden in a landscape that you gave to see to believe. Everything was beautiful, the staff was amazing. Everything I had booked was as expected and I couldn’t be more pleased. Definitely staying here on my next visit.

Traditional bali resort
The resort's location is 30mins drive to central Ubud. We got an complimentary upgrade after we told the staff that the room didn't look like what we saw online. The food is average but expensive. The A/c needs to change because it is seriously worn down. The 2 bedroom villa has lots of moss in the balcony. Overall i liked the staff service. They are always there for you.

Beautiful views disappointing facilities
Everything looks beautiful upon arrival but using the facilities proved disappointing. Had to change rooms due to 2 days of either no water then no hot water. Enjoyed the pool and staff very helpful. Our second room toilet leaked no fridge and no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Food is expensive and very average. Would not visit again

Relaxing place , but a long way from Ubud
The hotel was advertised as Ubud, and ok was a bit out, but it took over 1/2 hr to get to Ubud by shuttle , the actual hotel was in Denpasar. The gardens were lovely , and the pool area perfect , food was ok, we were there a full week and even though the breakfast was in with the price we didn't bother a couple of times, There was a good restarant about 20 minutes walk away. Shuttle bus to Ubud a couple of times a day, from hotel was good. Rooms a bit tired , but sort of shabby sheek, we had a plunge pool, which was nice. Hired a car for 5 days to give us freedom, did it through the front desk, which were great 25$ a day! Laundry across the road 3 kg washing for 3$ , we had been in Kuta for a week before.

This hotel truly gave you a chance to experience the lush terraces of Balinese life. Sited on several levels it had a lot of interest points but also a lot of steps to climb. Location not so good as the hotel is away from tourist centres and needs transport to get to places of interest. The food was excellent and the staff helpful. Good for a very relaxing time away from it all.

Beautiful villa
I loved my stay at Alam Puri. The entire property is gorgeous. The restaurant serves good food and the staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The continental breakfast was also a good sized portion. My only very small complaint is that the walls are a bit thin. The villa above sounded like they were moving furniture alot. However, it wasn't bad enough to ruin the stay by any means. I loved the location because it is central to everything. Staying at a room in kuta or seminyank would have caused a lot longer travel time to get to opposite sides of the island. Also this location isnt touristy, which i loved. I would recommend this villa to all friends and family.

Real Balinese Experience
We loved the spacious villa, which had a real Balinese feel to it with the architecture and furnishings. The private plunge pool was divine and the gardens around the villa gave it an exotic look and feel. Very romantic place for a couple to stay. The restaurant was lovely and the staff faultless. There is a small library which we found very useful. It has the most beautiful large gorgeous swimming pool which has a lovely private feel and is very clean and well maintained. The only fault was that there are steps everywhere. We are 58 and 64 and all the climbing of steps to different levels to access restaurant, pool, library etc was just too much for us. If you are young and fit no problem.

This hotel is located in Ubud.
The hotel has many offerings which include spa treatment and an amazing museum with various Indonesian artifacts. The room is large but doors don't overlook rice fields. The room fairly clean but can tell bed sheets and towels are old. The air conditioning worked ok. The netting on bed had some stains and needed cleaning or replacement. However, in this specific area it was probably the third or fourth best place to stay. Staff were gracious and always pleasant. It will be an authentic Bali experience

we stayed for 3 nights. staff are friendly. villa is huge. we had some issues with electric kettle. The first one did not stop after the water is boiled, after i opened the lid i found something that look like insect eggs. The second one sent in was a different model with a foreign plug and adapter. it smells like someone used it for making instant noodles. after the 1st use i can still smell it. then when i use it for the 2nd time, the plug melted. We gave up using the kettle and decided to buy water from outside. Hot water for shower does run out. Have to wait for hot water supply if you have more than 1 person staying. water stopped during mid night. no restaurants nearby within walking distance. very limited lights at night. Safe was locked before we use it. would choose to pay more and stay at a better resort.

Nice hotel with superb staff
The Balinese hospitality was amazing here, staff was the redeeming factor. Our room had an air conditioner which wasn't working properly......slept fitfully. The grounds were immaculate! A bummer though that it wasn't okay to explore on our own on foot as the traffic outside made it a risky proposition. When I booked I was taken in by the attractions listed in a 5 - 6 km radius which I thought was doable on foot. How about having the shuttle service leave a bit earlier. Any tours around Ubud and surrounding areas start at 9 am but the shuttle leaves at 10 am, taking about 45 mins to reach Ubud. Loved the staff!

Never Stay Here as a Family
We were picked up by our car and taken to the Alam Puri. First impressions were of a very run-down place with very dodgy, unlit footpaths to get to the rooms. We arrived to find that the hotel had not set up a second bed for our daughter. The first suggestion by the staff was that all three if us should stay in the same bed, not practical with a fourteen year old! They then showed us another room with a second bed which was a mattress placed directly on the floor (not very good when the rooms are open to the world and there are many insects about) that was dressed with a filthy sheet, browns stains being visible. The second "bed" also did not have any mosquito netting! I offered to buy netting but they said it wasn't in the 'hotel policy' for us to do so. How can you not protect your child?!? We were so disgusted that we refused to stay and luckily found a wonderful hotel on Expedia where we had a terrific time.

Quiet area south of Ubud
Excellant hotel staff, lovely large room and bathroom. Situated in quiet area of Ubud. Has spa, library and art museum. Private pool, however, very small as would fit one person stretched out. Some minor maintenance issues with broken door handle on inside of bathroom door, broken shower head holder and no shower curtain. Netting over bed also needs washing as stains noted.

Nice hotel
The hotel has bicycles that you can use for free but if you want to explore a bit further out, they can also help you rent scooters. For the less adventurous or if you do not feel comfortable riding a bike, the hotel will also arrange taxis for you. The restaurant at the hotel will provide you with either a free indonesian or american breakfast every morning, which was very simple but good. Lunch and dinner ar also served there, and the food will definitely be worth your money as their menu is as tasty as varied. The private pool in the villa was so nice to dip and cool off, but the hotel also has a big common pool if you actually want to swim or sun bath. The rooms were spacious but, like the hotel in general, need to be a bit updated and renovated (which in my opinion, was the only negative side). The staff was just amazing. They were welcoming, friendly, professional and will help you with anything you need or any question you have. The bonus of this hotel, is that the owner of the hotel has a collection of balinese antiques on display at the museum, right on the hotel property. In summary, this hotel is perfect to relax and to do sightseeing. If you are a party animal, this hotel is probably not for you, stay in Kuta. We had a great time there, if I ever go back to Bali, I would probably stay there again and I would definitely recommand this property to family and friends!

Good place but pricey
I'd stayed there recently with my wife for 3 nights. The place is beautiful and well maintained. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I stayed in Room 201. Woke up everyday to beautiful views of the rice field. The restaurant and spa were good but really expensive. But you can't help it as there is no other place nearby. The bath linen was so old that the edges were torn. I wouldn't use them personally even as doormats. The only negative thing to say. Otherwise, my stay was beautiful.

Nice hotel with nice rice field almost like rice T
Well, we have a bad start with the villa as the aircon is not cold. We encounter a few more hiccups in the room and finally the staff had offered to change our room the next day. It was much better then.... On our 3 days there, we visited their museum walk ard the place utilise the public pool and private pool in our room. Although it may be far fr airport and city but many attractions were nearby. Breakfast is great too, ala carte type n thus won't be wasteful for both hotel n guest. It's a great stay there.

An oasis just off the busy road to Ubud. Lovely tropical gardens. Clean facilities. Good and friendly service. The front desk managed to arrange everything for us from taxis to motorbikes to bicycles and tours. This hotel is about 30 min south of Ubud. Very quiet and peaceful. A small hotel, which we liked, hence we mostly were the only ones at the large pool. I also enjoyed the massage and facial at the hotel. We went into Ubud several times, for a cooking class, jewellery class, dining, shopping and sight seeing.

I am really happy with my stay at this hotel. I never reserve my own hotel as my friends or the person I am going meet/visit usually do it and pay for it, but this time I had to do my own reservation so I did not know what to expect from the prices but I am more than happy I booked at this hotel. Really couldn't ask for more given the price I paid. Room service is pretty cheap and decent as well. Location is pretty good as it's not within the tourist hotspot and travelling time to Ubud/Seminyak/Kuta is about 45mins. Appreciate the benefits of free shuttle to Ubud Centre and Sukawati Art Market as well as free bike rentals. Would consider going back there again. However it may not be wheelchair or pram friendly. Suitable for grad trip/family holidays/couple holiday :-)

Gorgeous, serene surroundings, but upkeep issues.
Alum Puri is a gorgeous retreat. The approach to it looks a little underwhelming, but once down the steep driveway you find yourself in a fantastically quiet set of terraced villas. The grounds are absolutely immaculate. The pools are private plunge pools are very well kept. Similarly, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I didn't use the shuttle bus to get from the airport, but used it to get to/from Ubud a couple of times. Food at Alum Puri is good: good choices for breakfast, though don't expect a full English! (Not sure who could eat that in this heat anyway!) Lunch/evening menu is broad and of a good quality, though a little expensive for the standard for Bali. You don't really have an option in the area though. The only downside is the upkeep of the rooms- there is a bit of a damp smell meaning the extractor fans have to be on all night, and the mirror in my bathroom was very spotted. The room was not as clean as I would expect, though more due to maintenance than the efforts of house-keeping. Linens were as clean as expected and they raised the issue of a broken light fitting in my room that was replaced the same day. Would I stay here again... Yes, but in the knowledge that the trade off of such an idyllic location are the slight issues in accommodation, but given the price, is fair.

We didn't get very much information from the staff about what was included in our package and what wasn't. This was annoying as the level of staff English decreased or increased in accordance with how much you tipped. I felt at times that they are vague on purpose so you don't use much of what you have for free but the best policy is IT IS FREE UNLESS YOU HAVE TO SIGN FOR IT.

Very old and not well maintained
We booked a villa with private pool(more likely a pond), it was old and not well maintained. The room decoration was old, ugly and not very pleasant for us not to mention the toilet drainage smelled bad like a sewer. The bed sheet and pillows smelled musty as if it was not properly washed & dried even after we asked them to clean the room daily. The small fridge under the mini bar was very dirty and cups was never replaced even after we used it. The TV channels are very limited choice, there's only BBC, and the rest was local channel with bad reception, the Wi-fi internet was ok but very slow. The staff services were very MINIMAL and we had to asked specifically for things that we want, which was supposed to be included in normal service in a 4 star villa such as this. The free breakfast given were MINIMAL and the services were also not satisfactory. The food at the hotel restaurant are extremely expensive and choices are also very limited. The location is far from everywhere, it had a very limited choices of eateries in the surrounding area. The scenery from our villa was a dried burnt rice field. The small private pool/pond was dirty, the water was always cold, and the daily maintenance/cleaning was very poor and MINIMAL. The receptionist was polite and helpful, If you like a quite and private place to sleep this is the right villa for you.

The resort was beautiful and is situated in a quiet location. A little far from Ubud centre, but if you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place. Beautiful gardens, stunning view of rice paddies
The waitresses are the most beautiful people. All the kitchen and waiting staff were so kind and really made my husband, myself and our 2 year old daughter feel like family. We felt safe at this resort and although other guests were staying you hardly see them, so it's very nice for people who don't like the tourist hot spots. Villa Ridi is beautiful. The other villas are ok, you need to make sure you are getting the room you pâid for on arrival. I booked a 1 bedroom villa which was supposed to have a separate living space and private pool, we received a studio villa and plunge pool. When I inquired about it I was told I would need to pay more money. Apart from that, I would recommend staying at Alam Puri as it is truly a Balinese experience, the villas are run by the local Bailines people. Everything is beautiful and the gardens are fantastic. Food is wonderful western and idonesian meals (we mainly ate Indonesian as you don't got to asia to eat what you have at home). If you want a memorable holiday in bali with a real taste of what the people in bali are really like, stay here. You will enjoy all the moments spent with the Alam Puri family. The museum on site is fabulous and definantly great to see on a relaxing day at the resort.
