4/10 Poor

Disappointing stay.
The stay started poorly when I peeked into the first floor to inquire about checking in. An older woman (probably the proprietress' mother) rather brusquely told me the guest house was upstairs and that I was in room #1. As I went to get my stuff from my car, she closed the door to the first floor, ensuring I wouldn't bother her again lol.
Upstairs is a public area and 3 bedrooms. My room, #1, was spacious and had a balcony, which is why I booked it. I had visions of doing some work remotely, and enjoying the breeze from the nearby ocean, then having a pleasant sleep with the windows open. A number of issues prevented this from happening:
1. The screens on the windows and sliding doors have rips and holes in them, and in a climate like this, the result is of course mosquitoes. So, forget the open windows idea, unless you want to be bitten from head to toe.
2. There is a tiny night table between the two beds, but absolutely no other furniture inside. There could easily be a little table in the room, because there's plenty of space. No chairs either.
3. The balcony is a nice idea, but then there are the mosquitoes again, and no shade. Why not buy a mosquito coil?
4. The internet is rubbish. 1-2Mbs/sec. My phone literally got 10x the transfer rate.
5. The beds are not beds. They are thin futons on bed frames, so beware you will have a very firm sleep.
The kitchen area was fine. No hot water for washing dishes, but I guess that's ok..? Bathrooms tiny, almost claustrophobic.
