This place is a classic, a little outdated, but perfect! My room was cold on the 90 plus degree days. Rooms were deceiving from them being out dated. It didn’t even matter. It was super clean, bathroom was impeccably clean,no bug, no dust or dirt. It was Quiet place in general.Quiet and we were right near steps. We walked out the back directly to beach, which was beautiful and clean. The woman at from desk were very kind and accommodating. The pool was lovely. My family and I had such a wonderful time making memories. I highly recommend the Thunderbird beach motel. It was perfect for a getaway that didn’t break the bank!

The maids and front desk crew are very kind and respectful. A man (maid) offered to help me bring items to my room from my car. The only few downfalls of the place is that the bathrooms are small, a small crack in the ceiling, there is an air mattress on the bed and it hurt my back after the 2nd night and people were loud in the room next to use. Overall a pretty good experience.

Close to the beach with an outdoor place to clean the sand off. Facility is older but pains have been taken to update it and keep it functional. Room was clean, bathroom was clean, sheets and towels were clean. A good value and will likely stay again.

I liked the location across from Jolly Roger, right on the beach, and 30 minute walk to downtown OC. I didn't like the fact that the room had a musty, mildew smell. The AC ran, but never really cooled the room satisfactory. Around the property, there were rust stains, so a good coat of paint could go a long way. It would be nice to offer at least a continental breakfast and fresh coffee. The parking lot is small, but you do have parking in the back of the property. For the location and the price, it's decent for a weekend stay.

No elevator! No balcony! Fees if u loose a key. You have a lot of documents to show at check in as well - drivers license or id and all phone numbers. Your car could be towed if it is there past 3:00pm on check out. Bed is hard. Good for one night only. Small.

Overall good experience. Clean room, responsive and helpful staff. The only thing is that the towels have yellowish stains so we did not use them. Please include more shampoo bottles and hand soaps in the room. Willing to return again in the future.
