This property is conviently located for an overnight stopover. The proprietor was efficient, polite & helpful. The property could however do with a little bit of a freshen up.
It was quite obvious that new owners had taken over, a lot of ‘touching up’ to be completed. Overall, clean & tidy for a overnight stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The interior was clean but dated and the linen has past it's use by.The outside of the property needs a lot of TLC to make it appealing. There's a lot of notices with rules and instructions which is off-putting.
The lady at reception was efficient and friendly.
Requirement to show drivers licence seemed over the top and reveals persanal information that could be a security risk.

Good place to stay. Would stay again. However the only thing I didn’t like, which is common for all accommodation that I stay in, is the state of the air con. Very dusty and dirty, I had to rinse the filters. The aircons need to be serviced annually otherise they can have a horrible odour when operating. There’s no point in harping on about cleanliness and covid safe protocols when the aircons are full of bacteria and filth.
I wished I could have given a higher rating for this hotel as it is clean and well maintained and conveniently located. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the customer service. Prior to checking in, I received an email requesting payment be made in advance if arriving after 7pm. I called to inquire why I couldn't pay with a credit card since that's how I had reserved the room, I received an unwelcome lecturing tone referring me to the email and bluntly telling me they have "rules for a reason". Given I had just stopped by the side of the highway during a seven hour drive and had only briefly glanced at the long email, it seemed unnecessarily blunt. I would have chosen somewhere else to stay except that I was concerned my credit card would be charged. So I went ahead and checked in, which was easy to do. I then sent an email requesting to extend my checkout by half an hour the following morning due to having an overseas business conference call that might run over. I was told that checkout is promptly at 10am and if guests have not checked out by 10.01am they are charged $100 per additional hour. I was offered a rate of $50 for a half hour late checkout, which was presented to me as if they were being generous. I declined and went to the public library for my conference call, which of course was free. The grudging and ungenerous attitude seemed as if I was being an inconvenience by staying at their hotel. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Disliked: Staff & service
The gentleman, and I use that word loosely. Was so rude even in the text he sent me before arriving. When I rang him he was just as rude and if I hadn’t already paid I would not have gone there. In saying that the young girl that was there at reception when we arrived was very pleasant
Our room at the Alamo was old and very tired, curtains falling down, torn bedspreads, loose tiles, mould in bathroom. Clean otherwise. Beds comfy, water hot.
main issue is with the management. Booked online and like most did not read the full list of terms and conditions until arrival. So after 8 hours of driving for a golf weekend to be confronted by a window open 6 inches, forced to wear a mask outside, forced to accept a quite draconian list of Ts&Cs to gain access to the room. No other vacancies in town. Basically any transgression of these conditions was met with threats of expulsion or police involvement. Have read of the reviews on other sites and you'll get the idea. The wife of the manager appears quite lovely but her husband appears not to fully grasp the concept of hospitality.
I know that ourselves and other golfers who travelling to Nyngan for the weekend have stayed at the Alamo for the very last time.
The whole feeling was more like a school camp or even a managed correctional facility....all for $170 per night.
I wish this couple well but................
Overall our night stay was very comfortable, we were greeted and explained about covid and mouse plaque by a very warm and friendly lady (may of been the owner).
Unfortunately for us the hotel like many others in the region was on a main road/highway so a continuous noise of traffic but we still managed to have a pretty good nights sleep.
