Loved our stay at The Charter Inn! Amazing location — pretty central to the busiest parts of Newport. We walked most of the time and left our car parked in the inn’s lot. The entire inn was spick and span, with charm in every corner of the building! We stayed in the Ida Lewis room, which was super spacious, had a beautiful bathroom, and was super comfy! Highly recommend The Charter Inn!

What a charming little stay we had! Everything was very clean and easy to navigate. The beds were from heaven!!! Parking was easy and free. Super easy walk to all the fun things going on downtown. Future patrons, please note: - Although this is listed as a bed and breakfast, breakfast is not included. - No full body mirrors in the Julia Berwind room. We stayed for a wedding and wished we brought ours with us!

I asked that room be cleaned, only the towels were changed out, sheets not changed. Staff was not on sight, there was not a coffee pot in common area that I could find, only a Nespresso maker with 2 pods. Room was advertised as having nespresso maker in room, it did not. The bed was extremely comfortable, although I would not recommend the Catherine Williams room for 2 occupants, very small.

Great Stay

This was one of the best B&Bs that I have ever stayed in. The owner was so responsive to all my requests... and to have free coffee in the room and free parking right in downtown Newport was awesome.

First of all, the pros: 1. the shower is better than the one we have at home. I took two one day just to enjoy the experience. 2. the location was ideal—close Bowens Wharf—so we never needed our car to go shopping or to eat out. 3. The rooms were spacious and clean. The cons: 1. we were under the impression that breakfast was available through the hotel but the restaurant that is supposed to offer breakfast for guests of the Chart House didn’t open until 4:00 pm and it wasn’t clear how we would get a meal given their hours of operation. 2. We found our room keys on a hallway desk but after wondering whether to search for our room ourselves, someone finally appeared and told, not showed us the way, we never saw anyone again, even when we were ready to check out. 3. There is a “coffee bar” in one of the rooms but there were no coffee pods. And although we did have pods and a Nespresso machine in our room, we only had enough for one morning so we ended going somewhere else for coffee. 4. There was a tv in our room but only offered the channels that come with the tv. If you wanted to watch any of the streaming channels you had to use your own account and pay for the service you used. It’s not what we would have expected from this type of hotel. Overall, our experience felt very unwelcoming considering that the boutique hotel was not inexpensive. The amenities were lacking as was any host. We will be recommending alternative places to stay.
