Very clean and neat hotel. Extremely busy and crowded place. Some room decor could be updated and it would be nice to have complimentary water bottles at least on the first day. Their inhouse restaurant closes ant 10 pm so it would be nice to have late bites anvailable until 11 pm. Enjoyed the location.

The front desk staff was absolutely uninterested in efficient assistance to the very long line of guests. Several of them were inside Reception and only one helping Honors guests, NONE helping non-honors guests. When concern was expressed to staff, they looked very annoyed and did not even address or apologize to the line - it took us about 45 min to check in with only 3 people ahead of us in line. Booked two queen beds - hotel gave us one king and a sofa bed and said will send Bedding to room (for sofa bed). At 9:30 pm we had to go down, WAIT in the line again, and request the bedding which had not arrived at the room. The PHONE in the room was NOT WORKING so we had to go downstairs. Hotel gives a voucher for $35 day credit for using local restaurant per day. The final invoice had 3 dinners at Herb Kitchen, and only ONE credit, not three credits of $35. When error was pointed out, it was met by cold silence, not even an apology. Invoice was corrected, reprinted, and shoved to me face down, as if it was a huge inconvenience. Upon departure, Taxi cab that hotel hailed, demanded from us to pay in Cash or via Zelle. Proceeded to LIE that he started his meter late, even though hotel staff told driver which we heard - that there is a flat fee to JFK. Proceeded to DEMAND a Tip of $25, no less. Driving was awful, hitting breaks and having us slam against front seats and loud speaker blaring adjacent to headrests of back seat, windows wide open at 8:30 am to JFK.

We had a problem getting the Internet even after calling about it several times. In this day and age internet should be an easy included convenience for guests. Check-in on Thursday at 5:30 pm was very lengthy. Once we got an agent, she was quick and efficient, but there was only one agent working our line and that took a long time.

This place was not great. Service was pretty slow and everything had some sort of extra fee associated with it. I guess that's what you get with a "budget" $300/night room. I never expected to have to pay $11/night for wifi in a hotel, even McDonald's has free wifi. Maybe it's just a New York thing but it truly felt like they just roped me in with the room and made me pay for EVERYTHING that I needed on top of it. Also be careful, they charge an extra $35 on top of the nightly room as a "destination fee" but you can use it as credit towards room service/dining/wifi.

For the most part we had a great stay at New York Hilton Midtown. We had one frustration, however, the hotel was changing locks on all the rooms on our floor. For the next 3 days we had difficulty getting into our room daily, sometimes more than once a day, which required a trip downstairs to the front desk each time to get the keys recoded.

Overall, property was nice and in a convenient location. There were some issues with my room key not working on the second day, but staff was very kind and helping to resolve the problem. It did feel somewhat that they were understaffed as the lobby would at times be quite busy given the size of the hotel.

1) We asked for an allergy free room. After three follow up, they said they will accommodate the request, but they didn't. 2) a four star hotel had no refrigerator, coffee machine, or even a tea bag in the room, just a plane bed to sleep. 3) the room needs a renovation. Our room was comfortable, other than having a tiny bathroom. And the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Still, we would never stay there again. We stood on long lines to check in and to store our luggage when our room wasn't ready. Worst was the line to store our luggage again when we checked out (Sunday noon) -- about 50 people waiting! We also didn't appreciate being subject to a "destination charge" requiring us to spend $35 on food during our one-day stay and the crowding on elevators. Next time we're in Manhattan, we'll pick a small hotel -- much more civilized.
