A wonderful room located just across the street from the temple. Great historic furnishings and artwork. Room was very clean and staff very personable and helpful. I would stay there again and would certainly recomend it to family and friends.
We stayed in the large suite. It was perfect! 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, directly kitty corner to the Nauvoo Temple! Temple within full view from the balcony and bedroom windows. The decor was designed to be period appropriate but with modern comforts. The beds were so comfortable, the towels were soft and fluffy, and lots of room to spread out. The only issue was the check-in. We were there in the off season and when asked about places to eat, we were told only places 20-30 mins away when there was an open restaurant less than a block away. The Red Front had delicious food! The front desk also said they couldn’t approve a late checkout and I would have to call back in the morning to speak with a manager. Just not helpful and wrong information. Messaged the phone number posted in the room and got the late checkout without issue. With so many people coming in from out of town, it would be more helpful to have someone more informed and willing to help as the face of your business. Thank goodness the room more than made up for that experience!
The hotel itself was great. Nice and clean, great location to a research project I was working on in Historic Nauvoo. The only reason I am giving one star rating is I feel that I was part of a scam at the front desk…I paid for my hotel on the app. However, Nauvoo has such terrible WiFi everywhere in the city that i was forced to pay at the front desk and charged twice. I could not load my phone and the front desk said the payment didn’t go through. I asked to speak to a manager, and when I did she was the one that charged my credit card twice for the room and told me when I left, i could contact my credit card and they would reimburse me for the room. She said it so quickly i immediately knew they have been doing this often. Sure enough, my credit card company said they would reimburse me, but the hotel still was paid twice for the room, so quite the scam they have going on there. My advice….. if you are staying at any of the 4 hotels they partnered own in Nauvoo…. Bring paper proof that you have paid for the hotel.
The hotel building shown on their website is not the building we were put into. That was a disappointment. It was a bit of a inconvenience to have to travel down the street a distance (1/2 mile) to the check-in front desk.
In the room they assigned us, the carpets were soiled and dirty, both in the room foyer hallways and steps. There was a bungent odor that was almost intolerable. We asked if they could remedy that. They moved us from the top 3rd floor to the second floor into a room that had been available. The carpet in that room was just as dirty and soiled. The smell was less. Without any other option we stayed for the 2 nights booked. Parking was difficult, having to climb a hill over an unmaintained yard area to the building entry door.
I wish they would look at the reservation and when they see 6 adults are using the room they would leave 6 towels and wash cloths. Especially since the main check in place is 4 blocks from where you actually stay. The pool is 4 blocks away. The rooms do not look anything like they were advertised. The price is most definitely worth it though.
I loved the room itself. Very comfortable, clean ,and well kept. The staff were extremely helpful and nice. Great access to historic Nauvoo. The only downside is that the rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors right above a barbecue restaurant. Which was in the description. But, they are carpeted and not to code. The building was built in the 1800's. I am a large person with bad joints. I knew that there were stairs, but I was on the 3rd floor. The stairs were a challenge and a trip hazard for me. I would recommend the hotel, but know the challenges of the stairs and the aroma of barbecue throughout the building.
Close proximity to Nauvoo Temple, just across the street. Easy parking. Refrigerator in room. Easy access to microwave and toaster just outside the room in the hall. Very clean.
