The hotel is close to the train station (and therefore buses and taxis). It's a bit older and not updated, but the price was great. There are several restaurants in easy walking distance.

Excellent private stay with extraordinarily beautiful view. Host so responsive and knowledgeable of the area and was able to connect us for local tea farm tour.

We loved staying at Mikansei! Our room was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed ourselves in the shared spaces, including the kitchen, bathrooms, and communal areas. Our hosts, Claire and Shiro, were incredibly gracious, sharing their knowledge about the Oi river valley and Japan in general, as well as their time, and taking an interest in their guests. They gave us some great advice on making a our day trip up the valley on the Oigawa Railway even better, and invited us to a group dinner / cooking class with other house guests and as a friend from the village. We felt very welcome and taken care of. This is such a beautiful area to explore, and Mikansei made a perfect home base. I only wish we'd had more time there.

Awesome architectural and design wonder. Friendly, interesting, conversational host. Played Flamenco guitar, talked music, design, and math with us. Also had a great conversation about the local area and some of the cool people who live in the town. Overall a unique and amazing experience! Thanks!

Hotel was locked when we arrived(10pm) and no one was there when we checked out. A memo said “please leave a key”. The hotel was clean but extremely under staffed. I only saw two workers. For the amount of money they charged me, I don’t want to go back:(
