"I booked the Knot for my brother and my mom on their trip to Japan. Their trip was broken into three parts - I booked the Knot for their initial stay and at the end of their Japan tour.
On the initial stay - they had rave reviews. The food, stay, etc. exceeded their expectations. However, the bathroom in the room has a step and this was at times challenging for my mom who has mobility issues. Other than that, they loved their stay.
The issue was their last leg of the trip. When they returned to the hotel they had a new room. My mom described this room as a makeshift closet - dusty, dirty, small and noisy. It is interesting because I paid a greater amount for this night as it landed on a weekend but it made their overall experience terrible and they left feeling they would never go back again.
It is really unfortunate because I think it depends on what room you get and clearly that’s a Wild card. "
"Clean rooms with amazing views if you can get high floor. Would definitely recommend asking for room facing away from shinjuku train station as the noise is quite loud, even on high floor (stayed on 28). Soak-in tub and beds are great!"
"The biggest drawback to the Royal Park iconic is that you have to buy the full breakfast. You can’t just have a coffee or a continental breakfast. In order to just have a coffee you need to go outside of the hotel to the Starbucks or convenience store. It was very upsetting that no matter what we said we were not allowed in the breakfast area just to have coffee. A second drawback is that there is only news channels on the TV in English. There was no way to watch a movie or any other show in English or with subtitles. We found this very surprising for such an upscale hotel."
"Small cramped rooms with step up bathroom. A real budget option that is not value for money. Good location but full of cheap tour groups with over an hours wait to check in. We cancelled our 5 night booking after one night and paid a penalty. Definitely not suitable for a family or persons with mobility issues which is not detailed anywhere on the site and is not considered a reason to cancel without penalty."
