What an incredible place! Very kind, friendly staff. The location is great — if you go around the holidays, you’re in walking distance of the Christmas Market by 20 minutes, but far enough away that you don’t have to deal with any crowds. The room was gorgeous and overlooked a creek. We woke to the sound of church bells! So idyllic.
Friendly, Comfortable, Quirky and Affordable is what you get at this quaint accommodation. Slightly away from “main” attractions for vacationers (but okay if you’re fairly mobile or willing to take a simple bus) however when considering the cost savings compared to staying in the center of things it makes sense for many.
Beautiful hotel, clean and updated. Nice restaurant and beer garden onsite, other bars, restaurants and bakery conveniently located with a short walk. Onsite parking available for a reasonable rate, as well as convenient public transportation options.
Loved the room, it had a quirky design, well presented and clean. Lovely breakfast selection, yummy scrambled eggs. Great shower, good toiletries and necessities. Bed comfortable, pillows not so comfortable. Air-con would have been a plus, but there was a fan in the room which was put to good use
A smaller hotel a little further away from the city centre. We loved it! All staff were excellent. the restaurant food was delicious. Restaurant staff were friendly, great to talk to, helpful and friendly. Thank you for a great stay! The cream and fruit dessert and rhubarb crumble were amazing!
The Hotel staff are great however our room was a little awkward with the bed wedged in a corner with a slanted wall. The electrical switches were confusing, had to try so many combinations of turning on and off switches to make certain outlets work.
The place is very quaint with a nice beer garden but the room was quite small. The bed was comfortable and quiet. Not sure about the tin mugs as they get too hot to hold!
Very reasonable room rate with cozy atmosphere & stylish design.
Breakfast was served decently with variety of choices.
Staff were very friendly & helpful.
Besides, I enjoyed the quiet place with morning walk by the riverside.
Will come back for sure for my coming stay in Munich.
The hotel is a little away from tourists area but close to river walk. They only have the reception open from 11:00-8:00 so we never saw them after check in. The downstairs restaurant is nice with friendly staff.
For dinner options everything is about a15 minute walk, a couple of coffee shops are near bye that are nice.
If I rated only on food, Maria's Platzl would get 10 stars. Its breakfast foods, from full-fat yogurt to its breads to its spreads and cheeses, are simply wonderful. The the restaurant itself is so homey and tasteful. A perfect stay would be staying in the breakfast area itself. I enjoyed the unique designed room too, but have to admit that I was flummoxed by its light switches. I could never control the lighting!

Liked: Cleanliness
Very clean and pretty rooms with everything needed but we were on the road side which was very noisy. Hot so wanted windows open at night as no air conditioning but this meant very early wake ups.
Loved staying away from the hustle and bustle! But we were at least a 12 minute walk from the train station with our luggage. There were closer trams and buses. It was near a park and not far from the English Garten. Our room was on the top floor that had a very sloped roof over the bed. A little tricky to get in and out. No English TV channels, which was fine but may be an issue for others. A restaurant right on property had a good selection of Munich fare but closed 2 nights during our stay. We had no heat or hot water the first 6 hours of our stay but the staff was super friendly and accommodating and compensated us. All in all a decent stay and good value for 3 nights.
I paid extra for the bigger room but still got the small one. No reception staff after 8 pm. I arrived 8:30 and was given the room key by the restaurant staff down, who were very nice btw. The entrance is basically same as the restaurant entrance and the smell is as strong as you are inside the kitchen!! The smell goes up to the corridors. Also the idea of closing either toilet door or shower door is terrible. Not a good idea to stay here.
I was travelling on business; this isn't a business hotel.
I arrived after the reception desk had closed, meaning there was a delayed check-in. I had to wait 20 minutes, then was presented with someone who didn't know how to let me into my room.
There wasn't an iron; there was no concierge. If you needed anything after 8pm or before 8am, you were stuck.
Travelling on business means you're out before the reception team start and arrive back after they finish. I wasn't able to get an iron for the full week.
The room didn't have aricon, but was ok. The location was pretty good.
Had a slight issue with the self check-in key activation on arrival, but resolved remotely by the staff. Room was fantastic if a little noisy near the road. Lovely bar downstairs with wonderfully helpful and friendly staff on every shift. Would definitely stay stay here again and thoroughly recommend
Very nice small hotel. Our room was very comfortable and clever design with good storage and all felt quite new.
Great location for us who wanted to be outside of inner city but easy for public transport and walking.
Reception hours are limited but one can call.
Does not work. Well intentioned staff but does not work. They have a self service check in which was done for both check in and check out. The hotel is not staffed after a certain early evening our which is neither safe nor helpful when for example my luggage was in storage and could not be takem out easily. Also be careful. Not on Marias Platzl. Rooms are clean bit Do not bother.
The room is quite noise and face to main road. I didn’t see any staff at all during my stay. Their tea is nice . Metro station takes 15 mins walk but bus stop in front
The hotel is outside of the downtown Munich, with not much around as far as services, however it is close to the river and you can walk over the bridge into town in about 20 minutes. We stayed here because it is very close to our son's apartment. They do not have full time reception however when we did see people at desk they were very nice. The restaurant was closed for Monday/Tuesday but when open the bartender was very friendly. If the main area of Munich is your need they have a sister hotel, you could look at as well. We stayed here once and it is a very nice in great location.
