Motel 6 Marina, CA - Monterey

Motel 6 Marina, CA - Monterey

8/10 Good
"The Marina Motel 6 is one of the best I have experienced in the chain. It is clean, well maintained, a 5 minute drive to Marina State beach, you can walk 1 minute to Denny's to eat, and the Walmart is a 1 minute drive away (or 10 minute walk). The property is 2 stories, with plenty of parking for vehicles. The rooms are compact, but clean. There is no daily housekeeping service, but if you want clean get additional towels, you go to the office, which is 24 hours, and friendly. Full maid service is for when you check out and they clean your room for new guests. You only get 2 small soaps (shower/sink), so no shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and no hair dryer (BYO.) There is also no mini-fridge. There is a desk and chair, a Full bed, clean sheets, 3 pillows, and the bed was comfy and not too hard or soft. There is HVAC for each room. It can get foggy and cold in Marina, so this is good. There is only sheets and a thin bed cover, so the heater is good. Small dogs are welcomed. Monterey is 15 minutes away by car. We spent time in Asilomar State Beach, Pebble Beach, Carmel, Monterey, and Seaside on this visit, all within 15 - 20 minutes drive. Pricing is dynamic, and the Monterey Peninsula has many events, so plan ahead. I booked 3 rooms about a month before coming down, and got $95/room. But when I checked back a week later for that time (mid-late August) the same rooms were going for $800/night!! due to the crush of Concours D'Elegance, aka Car Week (2 weeks in August)."

"Perfect location and beautiful views. Staff wonderful. Only downside when you add the travel tax it brought the room to $600. for one night. A little spendy for 4:00 ck in and 11:00 am ck out. Not enough time to enjoy all the amenities"

Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa

Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa

8/10 Good
"Cute room, convenient restaurant. I had a lot of problems with the bathroom. There was not even a place to set down your bar of soap because the sink had no vanity and it sloped so anything you set down just fell right into the sink. There were no drawers for your toiletries, no shelf other than the one that was completely taken up by toilet paper and Kleenex. In other words, if you put toothpaste on your toothbrush, you had no place to set the toothpaste while you were brushing. It was that inconvenient. They kept the hairdryer in the room because there was no place for it in the bathroom.I also strongly believe that toilets should have a lid. That is a sanitation issue. There is a make up mirror which is a nice feature, but the little lamp next to it was completely inadequate for putting on makeup."
